Responsibilities
- Assist the Structured Products investment team across a wide range of activities.
- Responsible, under direct supervision, for executing purchases and sales of structured product fixed income securities as authorized by portfolio managers, senior traders, and/or the Head of Trading; primary focus being MBS, ABS, CMBS securities
- Develop and maintain data base to track secondary trading levels, dealer bid/offering levels and cover bids
- Point of contact with Street counterparties - aggregating axes, collecting and disseminating market color, and executing trades.
- Assist with ad hoc reporting as requested by PM/traders.
- Will interact with senior traders, research partners and other internal constituents on a regular basis.
- Participate in morning calls, daily/weekly market updates and strategy meetings.
- Interact as a seamless interface between the team and various internal firm constituencies.
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree required
- 2+ years' experience with fixed income securities, preferably for a buy-side firm
- Strong problem solving skills, analytical framework and computer skills with a demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel and macro implementation. Bloomberg knowledge a plus.
- Programming background with literacy in R and/or Python (or related languages)
- Rigorous attention to details and good time-management/multi-tasking skills required
- Comfortable interacting with and taking direction from senior investment professionals.
- Inquisitive mind interested in all aspects of the fixed income markets.
- Self-motivated team player with strong verbal communication skills.
