Senior Financial Analyst (Carbon Storage)


About Us:
Vault 44.01 (“Vault”) is a leading carbon capture & storage (“CCS”) developer focused on the development, capitalization, and operation of carbon storage assets throughout North America. Vault’s team brings over 40 years of direct carbon sequestration experience, with involvement in the development of carbon storage projects across North America since 2007, including each of the three currently operating carbon storage projects in saline aquifers in North America as well as many others.
Vault’s capabilities span feasibility, design, permitting, stakeholder engagement, land leasing and acquisition, facility construction, and operations. The company is currently engaged in 15+ emerging CCS projects throughout North America that range from single emitter sourced, on-site sequestration projects through to the origination and development of large multi-emitter CO2 sequestration hubs.
Vault recently announced the closing of a US$150 million capital commitment from Grey Rock Investment Partners (a Dallas, TX based private equity company).

Opportunity:
Vault has an exciting opportunity for an energetic and highly motivated individual that can combine thorough and accurate financial analysis with highly effective communication skills. This role provides an opportunity to work across the corporate planning, accounting, business development, and project execution functions to support the evaluation and development of CCS projects within Vault’s development portfolio. The successful candidate will have an inquisitive mind with a proven history of working exceptionally well in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
Reporting to the Corporate Finance Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst will be deeply involved with managing Vault’s finances and supporting the strategic direction of the business. In this highly visible role, you will have the opportunity to influence decisions that will meaningfully impact the trajectory and value of our business.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Support corporate planning activities, including management of corporate budget and cash flow model
• Performing variance analysis comparing actual results against plan and supporting the accounting team in ongoing cash management duties and monthly re-forecast process
• Collaborate with business development team evaluating new project opportunities and developing robust project financial models
• Develop and present a variety of marketing materials, including investor relations and board presentations
• Assist in evaluation and negotiation of commercial agreements with industrial partners
• Interact with existing and prospective capital partners, assisting with analysis evaluating different structuring alternatives as required
• Support the review and analysis of policy and regulatory matters; Assess impact on Vault’s business and in the context of potential risks and growth opportunities
• Aid in the preparation of corporate valuation updates for existing shareholders and Vault’s private equity sponsor
• Conduct industry, economic, and financial research to support continued growth of the organization
• Support the activities of internal and external stakeholders, including the insurance, capital markets, and carbon credit monetization communities


Skills and Qualifications:
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance, engineering, or related field
• Ideally 4-6 years of relevant work experience in investment banking, private equity, accounting, equity research, and/ or corporate planning/ FP&A (with a preference for experience in renewable energy, oil & gas, and/ or CCS development)
• CFA charterholder or candidate within the CFA program considered an asset
• Prior experience with tax equity partnerships, project financing, and understanding of US tax code regulations for partnerships considered strong assets
• History of diverse commercial contract and financial product structuring and supporting negotiations considered an asset
• Highly proficient working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
• Combination of strong financial analysis skills, excellent communication abilities, and adeptness at financial modelling and valuation
• Legal resident of Canada or United States of America
