As a member of a small team, the candidate will need to be able to work independently, undertaking fundamental credit analysis of ABS transactions, surveillance of exposures and market sector research whilst collaborating with the rest of the team to ensure appropriate knowledge sharing and prioritisation. As well as working on credit and relative value analysis, the candidate will contribute to developing credit and portfolio management tools and processes within the ABS team and supporting external teams (such as operations, risk, investment strategy and advice) with regular reporting and answering ad-hoc queries.

Key Responsibilities
- Work with the ABS team to generate sector and credit views, undertake market surveillance and prioritise workloads
- Attend research meetings, roadshows, on-site originator visits etc. and share insights with the wider team
- Develop relationships with key sell-side contacts, issuers, and other market participants
- Perform detailed credit and cashflow analysis of transactions - across sectors and throughout the capital structure - and prepare credit papers and relative value recommendations
- Monitor performance of exposures (credit performance, ongoing regulatory compliance, trading activity etc.), providing input for quarterly meetings and regulatory reporting
- Collaborate with PMs to generate trade ideas and ensure views are properly expressed in portfolios
- Assist in the development of tools to enhance the research and portfolio management processes and to continue to integrate ESG and net zero commitments into the mandates
- Develop relationships - particularly across other investment teams - to share market colour and expertise for the wider benefit of USSIM
- Contribute to the production of presentations and management information for internal teams and responses to other ad-hoc queries
Technical Competencies, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Integrity and curiosity
- Thorough understanding of the underlying asset pools and structures of core European ABS asset classes
- Experience in credit analysis of ABS sectors
- Knowledge of Intex and Bloomberg and understanding of financial modelling
- Proficiency in Microsoft office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to work well in a small team
- Attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Desirable:
- Python / VBA coding ability
- Familiarity with wider structured finance and fixed income markets
- Detailed knowledge of the UK mortgage market
- Understanding of the end-to-end investment process
- Broad network of market contacts relevant to ABS transactions
