Overview

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer that has extensive experience with PowerBI. The ideal candidate will have expert level experience with PowerBI, Azure, Vertica, Impala, Data Modeling especially Dimensional modeling. This is a great opportunity for a self-starter and a leader to design, develop and execute on changes and enhancements to our Non Financial Risk Data Vault Program.

Responsibilities
  • Design, Configure and Maintain PowerBI reports
  • Help define data model requirements
  • Help with business requirements documentation
  • Power BI Report development
  • Building Analysis Services reporting models
  • Developing visual reports, KPI scorecards, and dashboards using Power BI
  • Connecting data sources, importing data, and transforming data for Business intelligence
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task in high pressure, high volume environment
  • Negotiation, decision-making, problem solving, influencing skills
  • Strong planning, project organization, judgement and leadership skills
  • Should be able to assist a team of PowerBI developers, and lead conversations with Business, and Scrum team

Skills
  • Analytical thinking for translating data into informative reports and visuals.
  • Capable of implementing row-level security on data along with an understanding of application security layer models in Power BI.
  • Experience with Dimensional data modelling
  • Should have an edge over making DAX queries in Power BI
  • Expert in using advanced-level calculations on the data set
  • Should be able to develop tabular and multidimensional models that are compatible with data warehouse standards.
  • Good Knowledge in Microsoft BI Stack
  • Graphic design and storytelling with data is a strong asset
  • Database languages like Oracle PL/SQL, MySQL, Impala, Vertica, are considered and asset
  • Expertise in PowerBI Report Server, PowerBI Service (Azure), Data Visualization

Experience Required
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience is required, advanced degree is preferred. Experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
  • A minimum of Ten (10) years progressive experience
  • A Minimum of 5 years work experience in PowerBI is required
  • Data Modeling, Report & Dashboard Visualization
  • Experience with Database like Impala, Vertica
