This role is within Wealth Management in the Alternative Investments Business supporting products such as hedge funds, digital assets, private equity, private credit and private real estate. Morgan Stanley has one of the largest alternative investments platforms in the industry and it is one of the fastest growing segments of the firm.

The Alternative Investments Strategy Reporting, GP & Fund Engagement, AVP will serve as the subject matter expert in our suite of Alternative Investment products and the systems that support them. The candidate will be a critical partner to Alternative Investments Fund Managers, Fund Administrators, Operations and Product Development to maximize efficiencies and mitigate risk in our onboarding processes.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • • Establish strong working relationships with Fund Managers and Fund Administrators to ensure a smooth and efficient onboarding experience that maximizes the capabilities of the Morgan Stanley platform
  • • Help direct meetings with Fund Managers, Fund Administrators, Operations, and Product Development to establish best practices and identify opportunities for efficiencies and improved communication
  • • Perform current state assessments or communications/information exchange with Fund Managers and Fund Admins, identify the gap between the current state and ideal state, and take appropriate actions to improve the operating environment
  • • Research and analyze complex business and operational challenges by collecting relevant and timely information
  • • Provide data-driven recommendations and decisions
  • • Review platforms, procedures, and processes to identify opportunities for enhancements
  • • Develop a firm understanding of the target operating model, strategic vision, and execute a variety of programs, services, and initiatives that execute on that vision
  • • Drive accountability and limit risk exposure for assigned initiatives by establishing controls and monitoring progress. Review strategic approaches and effectiveness of support functions and business performance
  • • Work with partners to drive to solutions that involve highly complex business scenarios that require a firm understanding of the Morgan Stanley Alternative Investments booking model, the available products, and the systems that support those products
  • • Escalate relationship-level issues and events that require attention, or action to business partners, senior business managers, senior risk managers, the legal, and others as appropriate
  • • Assist in the planning and execution of a variety of programs and initiatives that may include risk mitigation, efficiency, and customer experience


Qualifications:

  • • 3-5 years of Management Consulting, Strategy Consulting, or Business Operations experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work or training experience, education
  • • Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 7, and Series 66 (or equivalent) considered a plus
  • • Experience working in/with a Wealth Management firm and an understanding of Alternative Investment Products (Hedge Funds, Private Equity, Private Real Estate, Non-Traded REITS) preferred
  • • Problem solving skills: The candidate must have the ability to identify complex risks early and develop actionable mitigation plans
  • • Analytical skills: The candidate must be highly analytical with experience in using objective data to drive strategic recommendations
  • • Communications skills: The candidate must be able to concisely explain complex issues to audiences of varying seniority. The candidate must also possess strong written and oral executive-level communications skills
  • • Client management and teamwork skills: The candidate must have demonstrated ability in being flexible and working with stakeholders and colleagues at all experience levels
  • • Experienced in engaging and influencing senior leaders within the organization is essential
  • • Ability to manage multiple priorities and execute in a fast paced, high demand environment
  • • Ability to take initiative, identify opportunities and implement change
  • • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team, actively participate in projects/discussions, work through problems and help reach decisions that are in the best interest of the Company
  • • Highly motivated, well-organized, and able to execute responsibilities with minimal supervision; ability to prioritize multiple tasks; and bring tasks to completion within established timeframes
  • • Ability to partner with subject matter experts and team members to guide the development of deliverables and design the proper path to meet the required deliverables
