Middle Officer

Our client is a well-established and leading Commodity Trading group.

On behalf of our client, Swisslinx is looking for a Middle Officer to join their Freight desk and be responsible for the control of business performance and exposure as well as the delivery of daily reports.

Your mission

- Calculate the profit/loss, position and risk metrics and produce the daily reports
- Maintain open and effective communication and coordinate with each stakeholder on the trading desk, Front Office, Operations & Finance to ensure accuracy of the reports
- Analyse and permanently develop understanding of the business and the deals, to ensure maximum control and ownership over the trading desk results
- Main tasks include daily P&L and position reporting; price validation; work closely with Finance for the month end closing; and with Market Risk for the VaR calculation; and ad-hoc analysis as per the demand from Management (stress test, liquidity analysis, etc.)
- Contribute to the permanent enhancement of the working processes as well as of the systems

Your background

- Previous experience working in Middle Office or a similar function within Commodity Trading
- Previous exposure to Freight will be preferred
- University Degree in a relevant field
- Good level understanding of the P&L/ deal economics calculations and of the Market Risk basic concepts
- Proficiency in Excel and VBA
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Fluent in English
- Valid work permit for Switzerland or EU nationality
