The Role:
Work in a small team reporting directly to the Chief Investment Officer ~ managing and overseeing an outsourced portfolio invested globally across public and private equities, hedge funds, infrastructure, real estate and fixed interest strategies, whilst adhering to the entity's ESG strategy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • o Support and work alongside the Chief Investment Officer in the control and management of the portfolio. You will be a self-starter, able to operate with autonomy and understanding as part of a small team responsible for the management of the entity's principal financial asset.
  • o Co-ordinate all communications between appointed parties relating to the management of investments including fund managers, advisors, custodians and others necessary to meet the demands of the role. Specifically, maintain a strong working relationship with principal investment advisors, particularly in relation to the preparation and presentation of quarterly papers to the Investment Committee.
  • o Attend meetings with investment managers in the absence of the Chief Investment Officer if required and maintain ongoing records on investment related matters. This is important to ensure a close awareness of how the portfolio is invested and performing against agreed benchmarks.
  • o Be familiar with the concept of sustainable investing and have the understanding to work towards developing an appropriate and relevant ESG strategy for the portfolio. This will include the preparation and presentation of the quarterly ESG report to the Investment Committee alongside engagement with peer groups and networks to ensure the entity remains abreast of relevant issues in this arena.
  • o Ensure that the portfolio exposure to alternative investment strategies is fully compliant and up to date.
  • o Monitor the global equity component of the portfolio quarterly through Style Analytics software to maintain full understanding of the factor risks embedded within the public equity exposure.
  • o Work closely with the Finance team, to ensure all cash balances are reconciled and maintained as required to meet operational requirements.
Additional responsibilities will include Monitoring & Compliance:
  • Providing the Board and the Investment Committee with regular updates on the value of the endowment in accordance with the policy that has been agreed.
  • Ensuring that the committee receives information regarding the performance of the portfolio against the benchmark.
  • Meeting regularly with Managers to monitor performance and provide updates to the Investment Committee.
  • Ensure that compliance monitoring is in place to make sure that fund managers are adhering to any constraints agreed by the Board and the Investment Committee (e.g. tobacco stocks).
  • Ensure that individual managers are providing reports that will assure the Investment Committee that adequate internal controls are in place for the safeguarding of the Endowment Fund's investments.
Key Requirements: This role's key skills comprise:
  • Ideally an Investment professional qualification such as CFA, CAIA or IMC.
  • Several years' proven experience of working as an investment analyst within a multi-asset team and/or as a manager research analyst covering multiple asset classes/investment strategies or multi-asset managers.
  • Some experience of qualitative and quantitative screening, selecting and managing third party Managers.
  • Preferably, experience of implementing Investments through a third-party manager or fund of funds strategy.
  • Experience with the administrating multi-asset funds.
