Overview

The Derivatives Settlements Analyst plays a critical role in the Derivatives Settlements & Clearing team under the Markets Operations Group at BNY Mellon. This team serves as a central liaison between Derivatives Middle Office and the client. The role is responsible for the support of day to day settlement activities, portfolio/cashflow reconciliation, preparing GL entries, project management, and ad hoc requests from the multiple desks that we support. The team supports many different product types which include: Equities, Derivatives (Futures/Options & OTC), FX, and Swaps (Interest Rates/ FX Currency/Total Return). The incumbent must possess a strong Risk and Control mindset to help drive change and automation across process, procedure, controls, and IT architecture. The ideal candidate should have some experience in interest rate and FX basket swaps, CMS, and Equity Linked Asian Options with end to end knowledge of front to back flows as a plus but not required. The incumbent is required to possess 1) Strong communication/escalation skills 2) Intellectual curiosity to learn, question, adapt, and pivot 3) The ability to multi-task and prioritize.

Some responsibilities will include but not limited to:
  • Dedicated support for the Corporate Trust business that holds a portfolio of Interest Rate and Equity Derivatives
  • Reconcile various cashflow, positions or trades across various systems
  • Perform research and investigation on trade breaks as it relates to cashflows differences between client and or custody
  • Liaise between Middle Office, Clients or Bank Custody in order to settle trades and cash amounts in a timely manner
  • Participate in any testing, conversions, UAT to enhance existing workflows or implement solutions with technology
  • To be able to identify problems, work on a solution and escalate to the business any issues that arise.
  • Assist in any adhoc projects as it relates to Operations or Front Office
  • Cross train with rest of the team for resiliency

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 0-3 years of total work experience preferred. Experience in financial investments preferred. Experience using the following systems Treasury Edge, WSS is a plus and not a requirement.
