The Role ESG Index Analyst, Fixed Income - Index Operations
The Location Dallas
The Grade G6 (for internal use)

The Team
You will be part of the ESG Index Operations team for iBoxx indices within the Global Index Management & Production Group (IMPG). The team manages the ESG data from several internal and external vendors and supports the calculation and maintenance of a wide range of high-profile S&P and iBoxx-branded indices across a range of ESG themes, including Climate Transition, Carbon Efficiency and Clean Energy.

The Impact
The team is responsible for the acquisition, management, and quality of a variety of ESG related data items used for the production and maintenance of S&P Dow Jones-branded indices. The team works on maintaining ESG data to be used within the indices and onboard new ESG data sets. You work closely with the index managers to ensure that the indices are managed in accordance with their methodology and comply with their stated ESG objectives.

You will be working with a diverse global team of indexing experts and become a subject matter expert, be able to analyse and implement complex index methodologies, and solve non-routine problems on an on-going basis. You will manage and participate in global projects with high visibility and global impact helping us to expand our reach in the ESG space.

Responsibilities
  • Management of the day-to-day interaction with our ESG vendors
  • Data collection and integration of ESG updates from the various vendors for use in our indices
  • Evaluation of the impact of changes in ESG factors on the relevant indices including implementation of updates and changes to factors due to corporate actions and vendor reports
  • Onboarding of new ESG data sets and factors from internal and external sources
  • Working with the index team to expand and update the rule books and operational guidelines for handling incoming ESG data sets
  • Defining requirements, testing and implementing incremental improvements to the ESG technology toolkit to enable operational efficiencies and best practices in the day-to-day management of ESG data and the relevant indices
  • Work closely with the index managers to ensure indices are managed according to their stated ESG objectives
  • Compiling operational metrics to measure efficiency and accuracy of processes
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements including reporting on ESG characteristics of index products
  • Working within the global index team to ensure seamless integration of ESG data into current and new index products
  • Provide timely and accurate responses to enquiries from clients via internal functions such as Client and Index Services
What we are looking for :
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Business, Mathematics, Economics, IT, or Finance preferred.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with ability to solve non-routine problems in a timely fashion.
  • Exposure to global financial markets in publicly traded assets (fixed income, commodities, currencies, and equities) beneficial.
  • Strong technical skills, including Python, SQL, and/or VBA Professional.
  • Interest in corporate governance, ESG principles and financial markets (previous experience with ESG data sets or regulation is a plus).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage and meet tight deadlines around the provision of current and accurate ESG data sets.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, work with others and manage projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Additional languages would be considered an advantage.
Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $55,000 - $70,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive bonus/a sales commission plan.
