Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Senior Manager, Special Credit Unit.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Senior account management and leadership of a portfolio of stressed, distressed and defaulted accounts in Hong Kong and Macau. Minimize financial losses through efficient and effective recovery / work-out / restructuring process and with appropriate regard to commercial, legal and reputational considerations
  • Provide know-how, expertise and problem solving skills within the area of corporate recovery and workout / restructuring to the Business and Risk management functions in Hong Kong & Macau. Coordinate account strategies, recovery and workout/ restructuring efforts across these areas
  • Provide credit advisory services to Business (Commercial and Global Banking), Markets (Markets & Securities Services) and Wealth Management (Wealth and Private Banking), amongst others
  • Facilitate improvements in credit lending by drawing observations from incoming accounts. Disseminate learning points through training opportunities and Lessons Learned
  • Lead manage a portfolio of complex and sensitive workout situations. Provide advice to front line Relationship Managers as well as negotiate with customers, other creditors, lawyers, advisor and accountants. Interact professionally with senior management of companies. Be well organized, with strong planning, time management, communication and influencing skills to effectively and successfully deliver results on a wide range of tasks
  • Demonstrate sound persuasive and influencing skills, form rational and commercial judgments and execute in time sensitive situations. Demonstrate holistic consideration of various recovery options and their consequences when determining final decisioning and execution, with sufficient regard to risk factors including legal and reputational risk

  • University education. MBA / CFA / CPA is a significant plus
  • Minimum five years' work experience
  • Significant experience in non-performing loan / credit space
  • Able to work well under pressure
  • Utilize rational problem solving and strong lateral thinking skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • English. Fluency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin (written and spoken) is a plus
