Overview

The role will produce and direct credit risk accounting and reporting related to The Bank of New York Mellon, BNY Mellon N.A. and other Legal Entities of the Corporation (collectively, the "Bank") Asset Recovery Department activities related to deteriorating, criticized and classified assets of the Bank. This may include management, SEC and regulatory reporting for lending products and involve the preparation of credit loss calculation for individual credits using various accounting methods as required. Duties may also include participation in credit recovery and portfolio review meetings, as well as interaction with finance teams including SEC Reporting, regulatory reporting and technical accounting, as well as applicable vendors. These duties may also include responsibilities for sourcing and reporting fair values related to loan instruments in accordance with existing policies and standards, as well as tracking of loan modification and reporting of troubled debt restructurings. The role will perform Sarbanes-Oxley, regulatory compliant finance and reporting processes, in accordance with local and consolidated GAAP, useable, accurate and timely financial information, typically monthly, quarterly, and annually. This may require verification and attestation of data and reports.

Responsibilities:
  • This role participates in assignments across the Bank's lines of business, legal entities and geographies that have an impact on internal and external reporting, accounting and accounting processes.
  • Assignments will contribute to the implementation of new or revised reporting, credit risk and accounting process policies, procedures and reporting templates in order to provide effective financial planning, accounting and reporting of financial information.
  • May complete other assignments, as needed, including standard credit and reporting related activities. May assist in or directly provide presentations, information and/or recommendations to senior management, line of businesses, finance/accounting, and regulators, as needed.
  • Responsible for the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of documentation and reporting completed by other Bank professionals and managers.
  • Ensures each region is adhering to the risk management strategy of the assigned credit risk discipline or contributes to the development of strategies to bring the regions into compliance with complex, regional and global regulatory and policy requirements.
  • Contributes to the global identification of existing and emerging risks that are applicable to the assigned credit risk discipline and implements solutions. Ensures the proper documentation is completed when strategy changes are made.
  • Resolves complex system issues and frequently provides input on credit system best practices. Independently completes analyses of existing and proposed legislation, regulatory announcements and industry practices that are applicable to the assigned credit risk discipline in order to contribute to the organization's implementation of procedures to meet existing and upcoming credit management requirements specific to each region

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, or related discipline is required
  • 7-10 years of total work experience is required
  • 5 years experience in risk, compliance, internal audit, or 1LoD is required
  • Strong MS Excel skills are required
  • Prior experience/background in credit risk necessary


Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA, or a graduate degree in a similar or related field is preferred
  • 10 years or more of total work experience is preferred
  • 2 years experience supporting risk initiatives related to asset recovery is preferred
