Overall Summary
The Associate Portfolio Analyst within the Portfolio Analysis and Consulting Group will support the underlying investment analysis and reporting associated with the Group’s consultative portfolio construction approach. This position necessitates the skillset required for working on a team of Portfolio Consultant and Portfolio Analyst investment professionals. The Associate Portfolio Analyst will have a developing comprehension of the capital markets, asset classes, asset types, financial securities, and investment strategies evident in multi-asset class portfolios. Further responsibilities should include an emerging understanding of investment research, quantitative statistics & methodologies, modern portfolio theory, asset allocation, and portfolio construction as well as the propensity to learn various financial analysis software. This position may also have exposure to investment research, quantitative research, and/or project work.
Major Responsibilities
- Investment Analysis & Reporting:
- Support analytical requests centered around multi-asset class portfolios, investment products, asset allocation, and risk exposures
- Perform statistical analysis on the efficacy of risk and performance measurement metrics application and interpretation
- Investigate, explore, and identify tools, techniques, and metrics relating to the portfolio analysis and consultation business
- Technology Use:
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the technology infrastructure including all licensed and proprietary software applications and data
- Collaborate with the Analyst Team on developing best practices and procedures around all systems and data
- Support various technology projects and business initiatives including requirements gathering, and testing
- Client Service and Team Involvement:
- Demonstrate a leading service-mindset with business partners and with intra-and inter-departmental collaborations
- Effectively communicate and exhibit characteristics of a strong team player and contributor
- Possess a high degree of professionalism and an unsurpassed work ethic
Education / Experience / Skills
- Undergraduate degree in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or Computer Science
- In pursuit of advanced degree or industry designation preferred
- Prior work, internship, or co-op experience in the financial services industry
- Proficiency with risk and analytical software such as; (MPI Stylus, FactSet, Morningstar Direct, Bloomberg, Tableau)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel including macros
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multitask and meet deadlines while remaining flexible toward unexpected changes
- Excellent time management skills, attention to detail, and resourcefulness
- FINRA Series 7 License required (or achieved within 6 months)
