This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our Entity Management and Control team in the Commodities and Global Markets Finance team in a leadership role that will see you own and manage the financial affairs of Commodities and Global Markets entities in EMEA.

In this interesting and rewarding role, you will gain exposure to senior leaders in Macquarie and will collaborate with key stakeholders in Commodities and Global Markets, Risk, Finance, Tax, and Treasury.

This new London-based role incorporates elements of legal entity control, financial statements, balance sheet and statistical reporting, management reporting & financial control deliverables. In each of these components, you will be supported by the Financial Management teams in Ireland/United Kingdom, the United States and India.

The complexity of the businesses is high, with an increasing focus on the regulatory and taxation obligations at a legal entity level. Volumes and complexity continue to increase as the business has been expanding, therefore, communication and business partnering skills as well as strong financial controllership are critical to this role, and legal entity management and reporting and regulatory expertise would be a bonus.

Your role within the team will be to ensure transactions and overall business results are appropriately recorded at a legal entity level and communicated to stakeholders. You will work closely with the wider Commodities and Global Markets finance, financial management group and business operational teams.

You will report through to the EMEA Head of Finance for Commodities and Global Markets and have oversight of the legal entity management & control (annual financial statements, dividends, and management of external audit), including for regulated entities. The role will entail financial control including an understanding of the booking models and tax transfer pricing arrangements and balance sheet and statistical reporting. You will have strong collaboration with the Financial Management Group teams to support them with their regulatory & tax reporting

Other Key Responsibilities will include:
  • developing relationships with the businesses to advise on the balance sheet or P&L impact of new products and strategies within regulated entities.
  • oversight in implementing controls and financial management of legal entities
  • working closely with transaction advisory team on accounting assessments and execution in relation to new business transactions
  • proactive management of balance sheet and statistical regulatory submissions and returns at a legal entity level
  • challenge and contextual reviews of entity results including tax transfer pricing
  • managing various stakeholder engagement and communication including with the business and other Financial Management Group teams
  • support and manage our offshore team, who perform month end reporting (including tax transfer pricing) and other reviews
  • ensuring integrity and completeness of various business' financial records including reconciliations, monthly reporting and operation of accounting processes and policies
  • ad hoc project management to respond to changing regulatory, compliance and financial requirements

To be successful, you will have the confidence, drive, and problem-solving skills to innovate and deliver great outcomes. You will also have:
  • A tertiary qualification, preferably in a business/finance/economics or related discipline and with 10 to 15 years' experience in Financial Markets with strong knowledge of derivatives and financial products, preferably in commodities or trading businesses
  • Prior experience in Audit, Financial Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, and Financial Control, is a key preference
  • Proven people leader
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to understand and succinctly explain complex data
  • Comfortable interacting with business staff and resolving competing priorities
  • Possess strong attention to detail and be able to identify issues
  • highly motivated and flexible team player.
