About Alternative Fund Advisors

Alternative Fund Advisors (AFA) manages a family of interval funds that provide convenient access to private asset classes.

AFA is a young fund company founded in 2020. The firm’s first fund, the AFA Multi-Manager Credit Fund, is a private credit fund-of-funds that invests primarily in LPs managed by boutique specialty managers. The position will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to be one of the early employees in an entrepreneurial firm positioned for rapid growth in one of the fastest-growing segments of the asset management business. We are looking for someone to grow with the company and progressively assume more responsibility.

  • Liaise with underlying fund managers to remain updated on portfolio changes and issues
  • Partner with CFO to ensure timely and accurate daily fund valuation
  • Create financial models to calculate underlying position risk and liquidity
  • Generate both top-down and bottom-up investment ideas
  • Source and evaluate prospective funds and co-investment opportunities
  • Author, or contribute to, investor updates and thought leadership content on private assets
  • Perform investment-related analytical tasks
  • Perform additional tasks as may be assigned from time to time

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4-8 years’ experience at an investment consulting firm, institutional investment office, private wealth firm, or a similar asset management field
  • Experience underwriting and performing due diligence on investments
  • A strong interest in investments and financial markets
  • An ability to work independently in an entrepreneurial environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and strengthen industry relationships

Preferred but Optional Qualifications

  • Experience in private markets either directly or through fund investments
  • Experience negotiating side letters and investment terms
