About our client
Our client is a privately-owned investment firm targeting market-leading companies and hidden champions in industrial technology, software and related services with a primary focus on the German-speaking market. Investing in the DACH small cap LBO space, they are positioning themselves to be the partner of choice for both asset owners and investors, relying on access to a broad network as well as a collaborative and sustainable investment approach, the ability to deploy financial and operational resources competitively and effectively to ensure rapid and lasting value creation.
Originating from a well-established German family holding, the newly founded firm is preparing to launch its first fund. They are looking to hire an Investment Director to work across the entire private equity lifecycle, i.e. from deal origination through all aspects of due diligence, financing, contract negotiations, post-closing portfolio work and potential add-on acquisitions until the successful exit.

What the job involves
  • Identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities for the firm through own research and expert interviews
  • Presenting the firm externally and independently, meeting founders and owners of potential targets as well as other relevant stakeholders such as M&A advisors and financing partners
  • Preparing investment memorandums on prospective transactions and presenting them to the team, as well as presenting the investment proposals to the investment committee
  • Acting as fully responsible deal captain, leading and executing all relevant due diligence workstreams (e.g. commercial, financial, financing, legal and tax due diligence) incl. ongoing management of external advisors (e.g. strategy consultants, auditors, lawyers, tax consultants, industry experts)
  • Supporting the investments, once completed, driving the firm's value creation agenda in close cooperation with the responsible operating partner, e.g. collaborating with management on setting the strategic agenda, the implementation or improvement of procedures, execution of add-on deal opportunities, etc.
  • Taking an active role as a board observer in the portfolio companies and in the ongoing communication with management

Who we are looking for
  • Strong academic track record and relevant work experience from leading private equity or investment fund
  • Investing experience irrespective of asset type, ability to think from a shareholder perspective
  • Demonstrated self-starter mentality to identify and deliver attractive deal opportunities
  • Experience and presence to independently lead due diligence workstreams and oversee due diligence workstreams led by investment managers
  • Intellectual agility and personality to be able to understand founders and owners
  • Highly motivated, ambitious, hard-working, but humble in attitude towards founders, owners and intermediaries
  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as analytical and financial acumen, exceptional attention to detail
  • International experience and fluency in German and English are a standard requirement
