Human Resources leads the implementation of the Group's people strategy in line with business objectives. It facilitates talent management, succession planning and employee mobility while defining and overseeing frameworks that support employee performance management, reward, learning and development, resourcing and engagement.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Regional Senior Employee Relations Manager, ASP - Human Resources.

Principal Responsibilities
  • The role of the Regional Employee Relations Manager is to plan, manage and execute cross regional Employee & Relations initiatives and development of ER policies ensuring alignment Group policy
  • To support business change & transformation activity across the region through partnering with Group ER and ASP HR colleagues to ensure that ER frameworks, tools and guidance add value for ASP senior HR and business colleagues
  • To provide guidance and expertise on ER policy and Industrial Relations matters to all ASP stakeholders and to act as point of escalation on ASP policy and IR issues
  • The role holder will also support the ASP HSBCC Triage process by triaging HSBCC cases allocated to HR to determine the most appropriate route to resolution and will manage complex HR investigations. The threshold for complex investigations which fall under the remit of the role holder, will consider aspects such as: potential for serious negative reputational impact; potential for regulatory action; potential implication of senior management; whether the allegation or incident involves cross-border activities; potential or actual negative media comment; and potential Region or Group-wide implications
  • Oversee and proactively drive the ER policy agenda through partnering with Group ER to ensure policy review and assurance exercises are completed whilst ensuring both compliance with HR FIM and local employment legislation
  • Liaise with relevant parties to design & implementation of HR/ER policies in compliance with local labour laws, regulations and Group guidelines
  • Management and co-ordination of assurance exercises for all ER policies to evidence compliance with the HR FIM and local employment legislation across all ASP locations
  • Proactive management of complex employee grievances, personal conduct, whistleblowing cases and executive escalations in line with HSBC protocols and triage HSBCC cases routed to ER
  • Undertake Quality Assurance reviews for High/Very High PCC/Grievance investigations ensuring compliance with Group standards and provide coaching/feedback to country investigators to enhance investigator capability and investigation standards
  • Produce operational reporting and Conduct & Concerns dashboards to track/monitor ER service delivery and provide trend and insight analysis for GB/GFs relating to ER cases raised and outcomes observed
  • Provide expert advice, education and awareness to HR colleagues and line managers on ER matters, with a primary focus on business transformation/change, Industrial Relations and ER policy, striving for consistency and sharing of best practices
  • Close liaison and engagement with internal stakeholders within ASP region and with Group HR stakeholders
  • Work in partnership with Employment Legal and external counsel to mitigate the risk of employment related litigation
  • Create an ER/IR community across ASP countries; facilitate sharing of best practices, ensure consistency of standards/approach and leverage the expertise of colleagues across the region

Requirements
  • Management education in Employee Relations, organizational psychology, business management, employment law or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in an Employee Relations or HRBP role at a management level in a large scale multi-national and commercial environment ideally across multiple ASP locations
  • Previous experience of managing complex Employee Relations cases/conducting investigations across multiple jurisdictions would be advantageous
  • Strong understanding of the principles of employee relations and in particular, Business Transformation/Change ideally combined with previous experience of advising on and managing business change/transformation (ideally including M & A, offshoring/outsourcing initiatives)
  • Strong written communication skills essential with experience of report writing, drafting guidance materials/policies etc
  • Strong excel and data analysis/insights capability combined with the ability to leverage data to tell compelling stories
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels, strong communications skills and ability to navigate and influence across the organizational matrix
  • Strategic agility - sees ahead, connects dots, can anticipate consequences and trends impacting the Employee Relations landscape and tactical execution - knows how to get things done with and through others; and operational excellence
  • Good analytical, problem solving and decision making skills combined with influencing and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure within demanding and changing timescales and deadlines
  • Strict adherence to the requirements of confidentiality, discretion and integrity
  • Employment legal qualification or training would be an advantage
  • Ability to lead, motivate, coach, mentor and develop capability
  • Makes good decisions based on a mix of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgment; sought out by others for advice; operates with integrity and trust
  • Demonstrates positive and collaborative values and behaviours ensuring they are reflected across all people delivery touch points
  • Strong customer focus and employee experience perspective, as well as external best practice and best practice understanding
