APRA is seeking a Senior Analyst to join the Data Collection Design team within our Cross-industry Insights and Data Division. The Analyst will play an important role in the creation and ongoing development of data collections to ensure that the appropriate data is collected to support prudential supervision and the needs of government agencies. As part of the team you will gain a unique perspective across the finance industry as you contribute to the design of new data collections that are fundamental to APRA delivering on its strategy.

In this role you will:

  • Participate in the transformation of APRA data collections by developing new collections that will be used in key decision-making activities
  • Consider how changes to data items impact the broader data collection and interact with AASB or international regulatory data items
  • Work closely with the business intelligence teams to ensure that data successfully feeds into APRA's data models
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with other areas of APRA, including policy development, legal, frontline supervisors and risk specialists
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with other government agencies such as the RBA, ABS, ASIC, ATO, and the Department of Treasury
  • Contribute to ensuring APRA's data collections and taxonomy are fit for purpose and not creating excessive burden for industry.

To be successful you will demonstrate:

  • Understanding of data modeling concepts, with a view to developing business intelligence reporting
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant industries supervised by APRA, including up-to-date, broad knowledge of industry trends and regulatory developments
  • Strong analytical, investigative and research skills, including data analysis and presentation
  • Knowledge of the statistics collected by APRA and other sources that provide insight into prudential risk for the industry
  • Strong ability to deliver projects
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent self-organisation skills.
