About this role

Position Overview

T&O Risk and Control is responsible for overseeing the operational risk management framework and proactively working across the operating platform to drive consistent global risk management practices. Activities include project governance, establishing policies and standards, navigating external and internal audit engagements, operating event management, and analysis to support risk reporting.

The role is for an Associate level professional to work with the head of T&O APAC Business Management to lead the T&O Risk and Control activities in APAC, supporting the global risk framework and other business management activities. Serving as the lead 1st line risk manager in APAC, the position will be responsible for oversight of the risk framework and will work closely with management and the APAC Executive team to develop a risk agenda for the region. She/He will direct and/or support project management, implementation, coordination, and ensure alignment with regional counterparts in the 2nd and 3rd line functions.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for overseeing and executing risk framework in APAC; including country assessments, Board risk presentations, and ensuring that there is appropriate risk governance and oversight of the T&O APAC Operating Platform
  • Lead, support, and guide regional and global T&O teams in navigating operational risk requirements, Internal Audits, and regulatory engagement
  • Provide SME guidance related to internal controls and incorporating risk management routines in business processes
  • Oversee the development and continuous improvement of regional risk reporting to drive transparency around the most pressing issues
  • Collaborate with risk partners and T&O teams to ensure alignment on firmwide operational risk priorities, emerging risks and creating a strong risk culture
  • Support the T&O Exec office with business management activities such as management reporting, communications and oversee the development of people & culture initiatives in APAC

Skills / Experience:
  • 6+ years of experience in asset management or financial services
  • Risk Management experience, knowledge of internal control principals & ability to influence others to drive desired outcome
  • Knowledge of APAC landscape and understanding of regulatory risk management expectations
  • Strong contributor with ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple demands; results oriented and able to "roll-up the sleeves" to accomplish necessary tasks
  • Ability to build strong relationships with 2nd and 3rd line risk partners and peers in T&O
  • Intellectually curious with the ability to take initiative and deliver results in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to synthesize and analyse large quantities of data to create useful information and concise conclusions. Strong Excel, SQL, tableau, and programming skills are desired
  • Excellent written/oral communication and presentation skills. Ability to present to boards and senior management.
  • Extremely high attention to detail and strong work ethic
