Investments and Fiduciary Risk Management (IFRM) is a unit within Independent Risk Management at Citi and is responsible for overseeing customer protection risks (primarily suitability and fiduciary risk) associated with the distribution and management of investments products and trust and fiduciary services, primarily for individual investors.

IFRM's coverage spans both the Personal Bank & Wealth Management (PBWM) and the Institutional Clients Group (ICG) divisions of Citi. The Citi Global Wealth business (which is the primary focus of this role) serves clients with an aggregate of over $800bn in assets held in deposits, investments, custody and trust at Citi - ranging from Affluent clients (net worth >$200k), through High Net Worth clients (net worth between $10m to $25m), to Ultra High Net Worth clients (net worth above $25m). Within the Institutional Client Group, the Solutions for Financial Intermediaries (SFI) business manufactures investment products that are sold to individual investors via third party brokerage firms and private banks.

IFRM's scope of product coverage includes all investment products intended for individual investors - including alternative investments (i.e. hedge funds, private equity funds, real estate funds), traditional investments (i.e. mutual funds, managed portfolios and ETFs), and capital markets (i.e. equities, debt, derivatives, structured products) - and trust and fiduciary services.


This role will report to and support the IFRM Global Head of Distribution Activities Coverage. They will be responsible for overseeing the distribution of investment products and services across the Citi Global Wealth business in the Asia-Pacific region. IFRM professionals are involved in all aspects of offering investment products to individual investors - from business governance and risk controls to new product approval and ongoing portfolio/ product monitoring. In this capacity, they will liaise closely with these businesses, offer guidance and challenge the business with regards to the suitability and fiduciary risk controls and monitor these risks as it pertains to the business's activity. They will be a participant in product and governance forums and must demonstrate both a credible challenge and strong influence on covered businesses. Developed communication, technical analysis, and diplomacy skills are required as the successful candidate will be expected to build strong relationships with both business and control function counterparts.

IFRM professionals should be knowledgeable about investment products, markets, portfolio management, and issues that impact investment clients and the firm and are expected to stay abreast of developments in the wealth management industry, macroeconomic environment, and the financial markets.


  • Monitoring and identifying suitability risk and challenging the covered businesses to manage suitability risk in the context of the Citi suitability framework
  • Tracking instances of non-adherence to the firm's investment sales and suitability risk management framework/ policy
  • Evaluating product risk associated with investment products and services, understanding the investment thesis of a product, the key drivers and risks that may affect its performance.
  • Assisting with periodic risk reporting and presentations to Citi senior management, regulators, and other constituents, requiring the translation of complex concepts into 'user friendly' language.


Education and Experience:
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in or around wealth management or asset management or trading.
  • Bachelor's/University degree in finance, economics, or related field.
  • CFA candidates, or progress toward other type of post-graduate financial education/ professional certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of investment products and demonstratable investment analytical capabilities.

  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks effectively, work within tight deadlines, and drive tasks to completion with minimal guidance.
  • Strong ethical and moral compass with the ability to make sound decisions and communicate those decisions in a professional manner and to recognize and escalate key risks instinctively.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with ability to analyze large volumes of data accurately and quickly.
