About our client
Our client is a leading solar energy company working across Europe to support the transition to a net-zero future. They are looking for a VP to join their corporate development team, based in London. The team will originate and lead the closing of new transactions and partnerships, lead or assist in transactional events with individual projects, lead and collaborate in multi-functional teams to deliver strategic projects and serve as the centre of excellence for financial and investment analysis to support decision making across the organisation.
What the job involves
  • Origination or assisting in origination of new investment opportunities
  • Leading and coordinating bids, offers, or term sheets for new opportunities
  • Leading a team to close transactions for new opportunities, negotiating and leading the drafting of transaction agreements, presenting to management and key stakeholders to influence decision making for the transaction, and holding overall responsibility to coordinate all the required work for taking a transaction to closing
  • Leading a team to close transactional events on assets, negotiating and leading the drafting of transaction agreements, presenting to management and key stakeholders to influence decision making for the transaction, and holding overall responsibility to coordinate all the required work for taking a transaction to closing
  • Leading multi-functional strategic project teams, setting direction for these initiatives, and identifying areas requiring strategic focus
  • Presenting opportunities to management, the investment committee, and the shareholder
  • Influencing and contributing to the corporate and investment strategy
Who we are looking for
  • Have a strong understanding of the process, workings, and outputs of financial modelling, and be very comfortable in guiding and challenging analysis and utilising it to make decisions
  • Have robust expertise in understanding and utilising foundational knowledge for the role including, finance and investment analysis, corporate finance, project finance, energy, law, accounting. You should also have a working knowledge of the technical aspects of energy
  • Have a leadership mentality. When an initiative or project needs coordination and leadership, you naturally step-in to provide it, and are effective in collaborating across specialties and functions of an organisation
  • Have an ownership mentality and take pride in your work and responsibilities, problem solving and going outside of your basic role when required and seeing work through until the required outcome has been achieved
  • Have an effective ability to influence others (above, below, laterally)
  • Have experience and developed effective ways to manage others
  • Have the ability to multi-task and prioritise for yourself, work flexibly including under periods demanding working hours to accommodate transactional timelines, all while maintaining quality work output and managing risk
  • Bring a passion and pride to your work and to the broader green energy industry
