We are continuing to expand our presence and are seeking an experienced M&A Associate to join and support the team based in London with the execution of a broad range of transactions.

You will work directly with the partners at V&P assisting them in transaction and client related activities. You will directly lead day-to-day workstreams on executions and manage junior population of Analysts and Interns. You will also be expected to attend client meetings and interact regularly with senior members of V&P's clients.

Given the small size of the V&P team, you will be working in an environment where your ability to grow professionally is very significant and where you can have a direct influence and impact in the successful execution of transactions as well as in winning new mandates.

To be successful for this role, you will have between 3-5 years of relevant M&A experience and an excellent academic record. You will be able to demonstrate your deal execution experience and be regarded as an outstanding performer amongst your peers. You will possess strong financial modelling, valuation, and presentation skills, and have excellent written and spoken English language capabilities.

Key responsibilities

As an Associate your responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Close interaction and rapport with V&P's clients anticipating their needs and challenges and providing seamless solutions; presenting analysis performed and deliverables requested; fostering effective dialogue with the respective individuals within clients organization; actively participating in client meetings
  • Leveraging broad understanding of valuation and finance/accounting topics by assimilating information to perform insightful analyses; ownership, oversight, contribution and preparation of financial valuation, LBOs, discounted cash flow and multiples-based analyses
  • Interact daily with V&P partners to strategize on live executions and to develop high impact marketing materials to win new mandates
  • Structuring and execution of live transactions, including day-to day ownership of client deliverables and coordination between advisors; lead due diligence, research, analysis and documentation of potential and live transactions; anticipate potential deal issues and pass concerns through to team members in real time
  • Ownership, oversight and contribution to the preparation of presentation books, management presentations, board materials, memoranda, and other presentation materials for use in transactions or high level strategic client dialogue
  • Work seamlessly with V&P partners, ability to manage their expectations while working on multiple projects (mainly executions) simultaneously
  • Carefully review and give guidance to Analysts' work, while also providing training and mentorship
  • Identify improvements to processes and propose solutions to complete tasks more efficiently within the overall organisation
  • Additional responsibilities, as requested

We are looking for candidates with the following capabilities:
  • Relevant work experience at international investment bank (M&A, industry teams, Leverage Finance), Big Four Transaction Services teams, private equity, corporate M&A or similar
  • Strong academic background
  • Outstanding financial analysis and modelling skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities
  • Ability to work well under pressure and tight deadlines
  • Solid communication and project management skills
  • In-depth understanding of M&A process
  • Experience in dealing with clients and other transactional advisers
  • Strong team player with effective leadership and coaching skills
  • Strong desire to win with sound judgement
  • Strong sense of ownership
  • Proficient in MS office applications, knowledge of Capital IQ preferred
  • Language skills (preferably but not a must have)
