Position Overview

The MASS team based in Sydney is seeking to expand its team by hiring a Solutions Strategist to support our growing Solutions business. The successful candidate will work with the Client CIO and Portfolio Managers in the design and implementation of investment strategies. Along with the key responsibilities outlined below. the Solutions Strategist will play an active role in broader MASS team initiatives and assist with other areas of the MASS investment platform.

Interested new joiners should have an excellent understanding of Multi-Asset investing, portfolio construction, risk management, technology, and have good collaboration and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions team, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the following key aspects of our solutions efforts:
  • Engaging with solutions clients to understand the nature of the client's investment problem and their objectives
  • Assist the Client CIO with designing investment solutions that meet the client's needs including construction of strategic asset allocations, portfolio optimisation, strategy selection (active/index/factors/ESG/alternatives etc.) and supporting data & analysis.
  • Communicating solutions and portfolio and performance updates at client and consultant meetings.
  • Preparation of client presentation materials and RFP responses which detail the proposed solution.
  • Coordinate day-to-day client engagement (i.e. delivering investment and market updates, responding to client requests, training and education).
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the full suite of solutions offered by MASS and the products run by other investment areas within BlackRock along with broader market themes and industry trends.
  • Develop and grow positive relationships with key business partners that facilitate and support the solutions business within the firm.


Skills & Experience
  • Degree or higher-level qualification and consistent record of academic achievement and either completion or progressing CFA, FRM or CAIA qualifications;
  • 8+ years of asset management or similar experience, preferably across multiple asset classes and investment subject areas
  • Familiarity with a wide array of investment strategies and Multi Asset investment concepts (e.g. strategic asset allocation, tactical asset allocation, factor investing, active investing, fundamental and systematic investment styles, sustainability trends, alternatives and risk management concepts)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills including technology and coding skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; capable of connecting with multiple audiences and adapting style of communication to suit the audience, completion of RFP responses.
  • Flexible, adaptable and self-starting personality. Demonstrated experience working both independently and as part of a team.
