The Utility Revenue team in US Public Finance has a Director opening and is looking to fill it as soon as possible.

The Team / The Business
The Utilities team consists of analysts that are responsible for a portfolio of more than 2,000 ratings associated with local municipalities and state/regional authorities. As an Associate, you would be expected to participate in the management of a complex portfolio of credits and participate in market research and thought leadership efforts. A lot of the work is completed independently, but every rating involves a team of analysts, so teamwork is very important. The position allows you to gain and demonstrate depth and breadth of knowledge in the sector. Key Responsibilities:
As a Director on the USPF Utilities team, you will be primarily responsible for utility sector analytics within USPF, as well as complex situations, data, and information. This position is responsible for meeting with issuers and investors on analytical matters, assisting in resolving client needs, contributing to media requirements in conjunction with senior members of the organization, and taking the lead at external meetings related to credits, as assigned by a more senior manager. Specifically, in this role, the analyst will:
  • Be a strong chair and voting member as well as a primary analyst for a complex entity or complicated transaction and as well as make recommendations to the rating committee and prepares material for ratings publication;
  • Participate in coaching and support team members for analytics, work/life balance and personal growth;
  • Aid in identifying market trends, client developments, and client's financial projections in several industries;
  • Writes deal summaries and analytical reports, contribute to thought leadership pieces and synthesize analysis into well-reasoned and well-supported rating recommendations that demonstrate a strong understanding of financial markets and business environment and the relationship to S&P products; and
  • Work effectively with markets and jurisdictions outside of primary focus in a team-oriented, multi-cultural and global environment.
  • Function as a sector resource on credits. Publish timely industry commentaries, and proficiently write sector reviews and thought leadership pieces. Develop and lead ideas on papers across a broad range of issues for publication in S&P journals and other publications.
  • Ensure a risk aware culture including leading by example.
  • Have the opportunity to increase our ability to efficiently and effectively serve our clients.
  • Bachelor's degree is required, Master's degree a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience related to Public Finance, with local government or utility-related sector experience highly preferred.
  • The candidate should have the aptitude to be a team player, but also be able to work independently.
  • The candidate must have strong verbal communication and writing skills; analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent time management and ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and multitask; the ability to think independently and critically; and the ability to mentor others.

Compensation/Benefits Information: (US ONLY)
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $125,900 to $261,400.
Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location.
