Who we are looking for

State Street Cyber Architecture & Engineering is looking for outstanding individual who is passionate about automation, enterprise transformation, and continuously driving innovation. The ideal candidate should be an experienced and innovative security professional who has the desire to drive strategic initiatives that take advantage of modern approaches to technology, business delivery, and the use of data.

This role will have a broad range of responsibilities building cybersecurity engineering, development for scale, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation practices, embedded security controls validations, and layered security practices with aggressive execution timelines.

This role can potentially be performed fully remotely from home within the California area.

What you will be responsible for

As Sr. Cyber Security Architect, you will be tasked with drafting security policies, security standards and security reference architecture to engineering and operations. As part of the Global Security Engineering team, you will be defining and implementing security controls within our software development life cycle and IT infrastructure services and collaborate with engineering and infrastructure operations team. You will also be helping in the operations and maintenance of the security engineering lab space.

  • Introduce polices and processes that scale engineering operations
  • Help drive security strategy, detection of weaknesses/threats and best practices to build security first
  • Implement/recommend bleeding-edge technologies, frameworks and techniques to solve security gaps
  • Draft security standards for solutions using industry standard methodologies, regulatory guidelines and corporate policies
  • Architect and design solutions that enforce security consistently across applications
  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders to remediate audit and penetration test findings
  • Review current system security measures and recommend and implement enhancements
  • Develop and document current state and target architecture documentation utilizing industry standards combined with threat modeling and risk-based methodologies
  • Evaluate/apply new and emerging technologies and solutions to keep environment up to date and secure
  • Partner with the Platform Owners and Infrastructure Operations Team in improving the security posture


What we value

  • Experience working in a regulated environment; working knowledge of NIST, CIS, SASE and zero trust frameworks
  • Experience working with public cloud technologies (AWS/Azure)
  • Deep technical knowledge of security in the compute, storage and network infrastructure areas in the private and public clouds
  • Knowledge of Security Assessments and Reviews
  • Experience securing environments made up of multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, Public Cloud, Networks, Storage, Database)
  • Experience with security tools (SIEM, DLP, EDR, XDR, NDR, Firewall, VPN, IPS/IDS, SWG, CASB, FaaS, etc.)
  • Experience with Solutioning in the Identity Access Management (Active Directory, SailPoint, MFA and other Directories)


Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of technology-related experience with specific focus on Security
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and organizational/time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to "roll up sleeves".
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Ability to network and interact with a broad range of risk, compliance, audit teams, and senior management.
  • Experienced in program/project management with excellent organizational, follow-up, and time management skills.

Additional requirements

  • Information Security certification (CISSP, CISM, etc.) is required
  • Previous experience in the banking industry is a plus
