The Role Responsibilities
E2E Strategy, P&L and Product Life management of Working Capital Products
The Working Capital Product Manager is responsible for development of product strategy, its execution and commercialization, aligned to clear, simple and robust product universe governance and product risk lifecycle management.

Strategy and Building Product Proposition
  • Articulating the product vision - to all stakeholders including CC, TB and broader CCIB team both in group and in the countries.
  • Ensuring that Working Capital capabilities are build and commercialised across the bank's global network.
  • Create Industry level decks and data on Working Capital metrics
  • The Strategy, P/L and governance for the Short-Term Lending products.
  • The smooth migration of Short-Term Lending products to Trade & Working Capital from Lending including the governance move from Lending & CPM NFRC to Trade NFRC.
  • Develop and commercialize Working Capital product solution for new economy and services sector
  • Understanding Client's Working Capital needs and challenges to size future opportunities
  • Capture competitor intelligence and regulatory information and use it to develop or reinforce our competitive edge to improve sales & marketing performance
Financial Performance: Product P/L Management
  • Product P/L ownership for Short Term Lending suite of products
  • Deliver budget, through active management of:
    • Revenue (existing and new revenue streams)
    • Penetration of the product: 1) No. of markets using the product; 2) No. of clients using the products
    • Cost (operating cost for product)
    • Review and manage cost and efficiency of both allocated and direct cost
    • Returns (i.e. product profitability)
  • Delivers new revenue streams with meaningful returns over the long term, through product enhancement and innovation, whilst uplifting current revenue streams through process efficiencies and digitization.
  • Manages both cost and investment of product build, from reduction of unit cost of product to optimization of launch/go-to-market cost for products.
  • Leads process design work with Operations, Technology and other function partners with the aim of translating process optimization to bottom line cost control with a high degree of reliability.
Commercialization of Working Capital suite of capabilities
  • Develops a Working Capital commercialization plan which integrates product positioning with client value propositions all adapted to the industries and markets of our clients.
  • Create a training roadmap for Working Capital for TB Sales, RMs, and TB product teams.
  • Working jointly with TB Marketing, develop the external and internal marketing plan for Working Capital.
  • Works closely with Regional Product Heads to develop the Product Landscape: based on data and business intelligence from various sources including sales, clients and competitive market analysis
  • Works closely with Regional Product Heads to ensure product readiness and fit for purpose at the country/market level prior to product launch
  • Actively mitigates identified business pain points, by evaluating pragmatic solutions that have wide applicability and have potential for replication for the countries/markets
  • Conduct regular reviews of the Working Capital offerings to ensure a "fit for purpose" operating plan and product agenda.
  • Responsible for commercialization of Working Capital capabilities including developing product launch, commercialization plans, targets and ensuring infrastructure requirements are resourced.
  • Ensure appropriate governance is in place for Working Capital Products handled regionally and work with relevant stakeholders to ensure the product complies all process and policy guidelines.
  • React to new trends and technology and provide feedback to link those with current offering and impact to clients. Work closely with Technology and Channels team to realize the objective of Digitisation.
Risk Management
  • Builds deep and comprehensive knowledge of regulations and initiatives that may impact Working Capital product suite to stay ahead of the regulatory change agenda and how it affects the product lifecycle.
  • Takes the initiative regarding regulatory, reputational and ethical matters by providing proactive advice to sales and implementation teams.
  • Ensures adherence with the highest standards of ethics, and compliance with relevant policies, processes and regulations.
Client Engagement
  • Support for Key RFP and critical deals; strategic clients and those high-potential names for increasing the trade and swift market share penetration
  • Maintain some level of client contact, including client forums, workgroups, industry events and client meetings to ensure continuous improvement and positioning of Standard Chartered solutions.
  • Monitor competitive positioning and provide comparison / positioning analysis for use by Sales / Coverage and also drive new initiatives
  • Support sales campaign activities, with objective of wallet expansions across CCIB segments
Governance
  • Responsible for all product risks within the product management discipline at Global product level for Short Term Lending Products.
  • Maintains timely renewal of global PPGs and Product Shelf Reviews.
  • Identifies and mitigates operational, credit, regulatory, legal, fraud and risks in their product suite.
  • Evaluates current processes via a business Conduct lens.
  • Defines pricing guidelines and processes for the product.
  • Conducts regular engagement with risk owners, NFRC members on product related risks, PPG changes, deal structures etc.
  • Working with respective Country Heads and the Regional Product Heads to reviews and provide support to any regional memos and proposals drafted by local counterparts, and tables them to the NFRC for review/approval.
  • Understands compliance, AML and FCC risk and applies appropriate risk mitigation processes.
  • Conducts regulatory reviews on their products in partnership with Legal and Compliance.
Brand, Marketing & Training
  • Conduct training and workshop for internal stakeholders (i.e., TB/Sales/RMs/CSG/CRC/CDU/TMU/Credit etc) on Product knowledge and commercialization
  • Regular webinars and engagement with Sales, Coverage and Operations to further strengthen Working Capital Product knowledge including planning and driving Working Capital Training calendar across the globe as required
Our Ideal Candidate
  • Graduate, post-graduate in Finance / MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of Banking Experience with 3 years in Product Management
  • Very good working knowledge with hands-on experience of Working Capital products like Short Term Loans, OD, Trade Finance, Cash Management etc.
  • Experience in Transaction Banking product management preferred.
  • Very good analytical skills including problem solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence directly, indirectly and virtually across the SCB network.
  • Open minded with ability to explore new areas and new ways of working
  • Ability to keep abreast on changes in the market, customer requirement, competitor response and the Banks ability to use information to identify new business opportunities.
  • Good understanding of financial regulation impacting Banking viz Basel, IBOR, Risk Weighted Assets etc.
