The Corporate Sustainability function drives and implements the Bank's community investment strategy and programmes, staff volunteer activities and plays a strong supportive role in the ESG reporting process. We work closely with our community partners to develop, launch and execute corporate responsibility programmes that help enhance social and environmental well-being relevant to present day needs.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our Department as Head of Corporate Responsibility.
Principal responsibilities
  • Reporting to the Head of Communications and Corporate Sustainability, the incumbent is responsible for leading a team to support the Bank in driving its ESG agenda: "To be a leading driver of ESG in the local banking industry" through the development and implementation of an impactful corporate sustainability strategy that puts stakeholder focus on sustainable business practices, invests in relevant and impactful community development initiatives for community good and promotes the Bank's good corporate citizenship.
  • Work with NGO partners to develop and implement "flagship" community investment initiatives in line with present day needs, and the Bank's business strategy. Four focus areas include Future Skills, Financial Education and Sustainable Finance, Addressing Climate Change and Caring for
  • Increase brand equity by developing and implementing proactive external and internal communications strategies and campaigns to highlight the Bank's CSR efforts and standing as a good corporate citizen to increase brand equity
  • Drive effective engagement of relevant external stakeholders and partner with internal departments and staff to raise awareness on the importance of ESG in the current business environment and encourage participation in volunteer activities
  • Support production of the Bank's annual ESG Report to maintain high regard of Hang Seng's contributions
  • Determine and manage effective use of the Bank's CS budget.
  • Attend and/or give guidance where appropriate for internal and external events and functions where the Bank is providing support of Corporate Sustainability activity.
  • Lead, develop and motivate the team to attract, retain and develop the capacity and capability of subordinates.
  • Establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment across the department to ensure compliance with HSBC Group policy and procedures, together with early identification and effective resolution or escalation of issues that arise.
  • Advise Hang Seng China and other subsidiaries on CS strategy and initiatives.
Requirements
  • University graduate with over 10 years' managerial experience in corporate sustainability for sizeable corporations
  • In-depth understanding of ESG trends and requirements
  • Ability to identify and lead new and innovative CS programmes, to successful implementation; manage complex projects under tight deadlines
  • Innovative thinking with strong leadership skills to work directly with senior management
  • Strong and extensive communications skills to generate mileage, impact and external recognition
  • Good sensitivities to public, social and environmental issues
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes
