Risk Analyst

Vestcor Inc. has a one-year term position available for a Risk Analyst that may be extended into a full-time role.

Located in Fredericton, Vestcor is the largest investment manager in Atlantic Canada providing global investment management services to nine different client groups representing approximately $19.4 billion in assets under management. We also provide administration services to eleven pension plans and four employee benefit plans.

The Risk Analyst will report to the Risk Manager and provide support to the Risk Management team through risk monitoring and reporting, quantitative investment risk analytics and modeling projects, and evaluating new investments/investment strategies from a risk management perspective.

The responsibilities of the position include gathering and analyzing proprietary data, preparation and distribution of investment portfolio risk reports, and contributing to other projects and initiatives to improve the effectiveness of the corporate risk management systems.

The ideal candidate requires an undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, or Economics, or in a quantitative discipline such as Data Science, Actuarial Science with a demonstrated interest in capital markets. They should also have a strong analytical and financial skills including experience with quantitative and statistical data. Experience with a programming language such as R and MATLAB is required, knowledge of SQL and Python would be considered and asset. Knowledge of financial market data analytics systems and other systems is also considered an asset (e.g. Bloomberg, MSCI Barra, Pacer, etc.) 

The successful candidate will be a team player with a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills and attention to detail.  Written and spoken competence in English is required.
