About this Role
BlackRock is seeking a permanent hire to join its U.S. Product Tax Group. This is an advisory role, with strong technical and business exposure to tax issues related to a wide range of financial products and investments. The team is responsible for providing internal tax advice and consultation on all tax matters related to BlackRock's U.S. fund range, including exchange traded funds, retail mutual funds, business development companies, institutional collective investment funds and separately managed accounts.

About this Role
BlackRock is seeking a permanent hire to join its U.S. Product Tax Group. This is an advisory role, with strong technical and business exposure to tax issues related to a wide range of financial products and investments. The team is responsible for providing internal tax advice and consultation on all tax matters related to BlackRock's U.S. fund range, including exchange traded funds, retail mutual funds, business development companies, institutional collective investment funds and separately managed accounts.
The role involves:
- Providing hands-on tax support to the BlackRock U.S. fund business.
- Assistance with new products, including tax structuring and review of documentation, as well as ongoing tax oversight for the fund complexes and vehicles associated with those businesses.
- Advising on complex investments and investment restructurings, including suitability, due diligence, tax structuring, and investment documentation.
- Advising on tax efficient offerings and strategies.
- Monitor and provide input on key tax legislative and regulatory developments that are of relevance to funds and investors.
- Working with the wider US Product Tax team on tax matters which impact BlackRock's broader product offering.
Key Responsibilities
For the assigned U.S. fund ranges:
- Lead tax support in evaluating and developing new products and product changes.
- Develop tax efficient funds and client solutions.
- Lead tax support of BlackRock's client relationship, sales & marketing teams with tax related client communications and materials.
- Provide technical support to members of the broader tax team responsible for covering each of the product ranges.
- Support product development teams in evaluating and developing new products with insightful and practical tax input.
- Monitor key tax legislative and regulatory developments that are of relevance to funds and investors and lead interaction with industry groups and internal business leaders.
Skills and Experience - required
The following are required from all candidates:
- Master's Degree in Taxation, CPA, or JD.
- Extensive knowledge of tax aspects of regulated investment companies, other collective investment fund vehicles and separately managed accounts with a broad range of investment strategies both public and private.
- Excellent knowledge of the US taxation of investors ranging from retail/ high net worth individuals, institutions, financial products/ instruments and funds.
- Strong communication skills, especially with non-tax colleagues be they portfolio managers/ analysts, sales and marketing, management and technology personnel.
- 6+ years financial products/ investment company tax experience.
