About this role

BlackRock's Corporate Development team is responsible for assessing and executing acquisitions, strategic investments and partnerships based on BlackRock's strategic priorities. The team is part of BlackRock's Corporate Strategy and Development Group which is responsible for supporting the firm in positioning BlackRock to generate robust, long-term growth and shareholder value creation through formulating and executing enterprise and business level visions and strategies, and driving large multi-functional initiatives for the firm. This role is based in Hong Kong and the team member will be part of the APAC team focusing on the firm's regional corporate development efforts.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with senior management and business unit leaders to identify, develop and execute new strategic and business development opportunities aligned with firm objectives
  • Drive the evaluation and analysis of inorganic opportunities across the asset management and financial technology industries regionally and globally
  • Lead due diligence and transaction process in partnership with various teams across the firm, including business stakeholders, Finance, HR, Operations and Legal
  • Build financial models to assess returns on invested capital and impact to BlackRock's P&L
  • Participate in negotiation of transaction consideration, structure and integration plans
  • Recommend strategic transactions to BlackRock's leadership and communicate views and plans across the firm via presentations, meetings, written communications, etc.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or equivalent degree with strong record of academic achievement
  • 6-10 years of financial services experience; investment banking, private equity, or direct investing experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience in the asset management industry is helpful, but not required
  • Ability to build and effectively maintain relationships with business leaders, corporate functions and external constituents
  • Familiarity with the M&A deal process and an ability to deliver in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple demands
  • Sophisticated financial statement analysis, due diligence, valuation and modeling skills preferred
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and organizational skills, and keen attention to detail
  • Superb written and oral communication skills in English and fluency in local language skills for Asian markets a plus
  • Candidate with less experience will be considered for an Associate role
