The Engineering & Architecture function within Technology Group is a hands-on, multi-disciplinary team of software architects, engineers and analysts helping GIC to build a generation-next suite of investment systems that empower the business and position GIC as the leading global long-term investment firm.

The team is looking for talented and passionate software engineers to drive meaningful technical and architectural change, spearhead new technology initiatives through direct engagement with software delivery teams, facilitate organisation-wide technology decision-making and lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology trends.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of shared front-end applications and components through modern, well-tested, automated, cloud-native architectures across web and mobile devices
- Engage and support software teams on project-level UI architecture and design, working directly with the developers through hands-on coding, continuous delivery and mentorship
- Work closely with Experience Design to craft simple, intuitive and consistent UI experiences
- Provide thought leadership and evangelism on engineering speed and quality through modern engineering practices like TDD, pair-programming and automation
- Research and evaluate emerging technology trends and industry leading engineering practices
- Define and uphold intelligent UI software engineering standards, governance and controls
Technical Skills
- At least 10 years experience designing, building, and operating large scale front-end applications, preferably involving complex data-driven financial services workflows (eg, trading or operations)
- Highly proficient in JavaScript, HTML and CSS with the ability to produce clean, well-tested and maintainable user interface code using some of the following tools: React, Redux, Typescript, CSS Modules, Jest, Cypress (or similar testing frameworks)
- A deep understanding of automation through the software delivery lifecycle, including automated testing, integration, deployment, monitoring and support
- A mature approach to Agile based on real experience leading software development teams using Agile, XP, Lean and/or continuous delivery practices such as pair-programming, TDD and CICD
- Experience of cloud technology, architecture, patterns and tools
- An understanding of clean, scalable RESTful API design
