About this role

About Aperio

At Aperio (part of BlackRock), our strategies are designed to put our clients' and their clients' interests at the center of our investment advice; to minimize costs and taxes; and to incorporate each client's unique environmental, social, and governance (ESG) preferences. We are a purposefully growing quantitative/index-tracking investment management business specializing in managing customized equity portfolios tax efficiently.

At Aperio, we work hard and move quickly as a well-coordinated, collaborative team whose exceptional people are focused on providing extraordinary client service. If you are looking for an opportunity to grow and contribute in a fun, industry-disruptive, fast-paced environment, Aperio is the place for you.

About this Role

We are looking for a Client Relationship Manager to help establish and deepen long-term relationships, primarily with wealth advisors from Broker Dealer and Private Bank platforms. Ideal candidates must have substantial business development experience in the investment management industry. He/she will be responsible for implementing opportunities with wealth advisors fitting the right type of profile, particularly in the HNW segment of the market. A strong team player is critical, as he/she will work creatively and collaboratively with colleagues across a number of departments, such as Portfolio Management, Research, Operations, and Marketing.

The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong analytical skills given Aperio's quantitative approach to investment management. Key attributes also include a high degree of integrity, professionalism and an intense desire to deliver the superior client service that Aperio is known for in the industry.

Interested candidates must provide a cover letter

  • Maintain and expand existing client relationships. Collaborating with Aperio and BlackRock colleagues and working effectively within a team environment is essential.
  • Articulate Aperio's custom solution set and communicate the firm's unique value proposition as a solution provider, not simply a product provider. A key differentiator of Aperio is partnering with clients to create custom portfolio solutions that meet their needs.
  • Must be able to deliver expert-level presentations to clients and prospects, either alone or with an Aperio or BlackRock colleague.
  • Contribute to the development and support of presentations and other content for the entire firm to use.

  • Strong business development experience (five-plus years) in the investment management industry, particularly the HNW market.
  • Excellent sales, networking, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills. Must have a demonstrated track record of building a client base of key, senior-level, decision makers.
  • Strong understanding of investment concepts of the equity markets. Knowledge of tax and estate planning techniques for HNW investors a plus.
  • MBA and/or CFA preferred.
  • Degree in Finance or Economics preferred.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce CRM a plus.
