As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we welcome people with diverse life experiences, fresh ideas, and specialized subject-matter expertise.
The position
The Client Group in Australia has an opening for a Relationship Analyst ("RA") in the financial intermediary channel, to support our sales and market efforts. The financial intermediary team is responsible for Wellington Management's relationships and activity with strategic clients, wealth management groups, family offices, endowments and fund of funds. The team collaborates closely with clients on broad investment, sales and marketing initiatives. As a key point-person, the RA independently fields a high-volume of investment, sales and marketing requests and is responsible for supporting all top-line activity. The successful candidate will be an integral member of our Australia and New Zealand Team and will be primarily responsible for supporting and strengthening our relationships with intermediary clients and prospects.
Responsibilities
Commanding a thorough knowledge of our business, coupled with strong interpersonal skills, the RA will work closely with other members of the team on a portfolio of accounts and relationships and be responsible for supporting our business development and relationship management efforts. The Analyst will work closely with Relationship Managers in support of a number of assigned clients, responding to ad hoc inquiries, undertaking market research, and preparing for client meetings.

Success in this role requires the RA to have the ability to be proactive in supporting our business development activities, looking to assess and support our prospect and cross sell opportunities. In addition, RAs also support our existing client relationships. This requires the RA to maintain and update client CRM data, analyse opportunities for our clients and prospective clients, and oversee and coordinate the completion of sales, marketing and investment requests from clients. RAs will work with internal stakeholders (including: portfolio services, legal and compliance, portfolio management, product management, the client service group, trading and other functions) to ensure we meet our clients expectations and to ensure deadlines are met. Attention to detail is critical.

This position has frequent interaction with clients and will be expected to conduct independent analysis, initiate original research and respond to inquiries on a wide range of topics typically on tight timelines. Some travel may be required.

Principal responsibilities will include:
  • National and global meeting coordination including scheduling, preparation of presentation materials, briefing and marketing collateral, as well as coordination of meeting notes and follow-up;
  • Interface with clients to triage and fulfil investment, sales and marketing activities
  • Participating in client and prospect meetings and conference calls as appropriate;
  • Conducting analysis, initiating investigations and responding to internal and external ad-hoc inquiries on a wide variety of topics across markets, investments and competitors.
  • Acting as a point of contact for various groups within client organisations;
  • Supporting the local Relationship Managers in business development and relationship management roadshows and client review meetings;
  • Capturing and maintaining client data in Salesforce;
  • Developing an understanding of the depth and breadth of Wellington Management's investment approaches.
Desired Attributes:
  • Self-motivated with a strong service orientation, being reliable, consistent and proactive
  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail; ensure that all work is delivered completed, accurately, and on time prioritizing effectively across multiple stakeholders
  • Effective communication skills are essential given the frequent level of client interaction
  • Actively listen and ask questions to determine and meet client needs
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to demonstrate and apply sound business judgement, having a strong sense of integrity
  • Demonstrate a sense of personal accountability and urgency for achieving results
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a passion for learning about the global capital markets. In-depth knowledge of equity, fixed income, and/or multi-asset investment products is strongly preferred. Interest in the business of investment management, a desire to work in a team-based and collaborative environment, and an analytical/problem-solving orientation are required.

Candidates should possess capacity for differentiated thinking, strong work ethic, and the willingness to work with others. Strong presentation skills and client-facing experience are preferred.

This position will require the ability to work independently, in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment, using judgment to determine priorities and meeting deadlines that need to be met under significant time pressure. Finally, RAs should have a sound knowledge of investments, such that they are able to comprehend, and respond to, client enquiries and requests.

Other required qualifications include:
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in analytical roles within the investment industry which can include relationship management/business development/client service.
  • Direct buy-side experience supporting intermediary/distribution client relationships preferred
  • Strong academic credentials including a Bachelor's degree with preference given to candidates who have undertaken post-graduate work or are progressing towards a CFA
  • Can demonstrate excellent communication skills, both oral and written
The successful candidate will be one who meets the above criteria, is committed to the success of the team, and takes a long-term view of their career.
