Director, Global Markets Trading Risk Analyst - Front Office (1 st line Risk): New York

The Global Markets Trading Risk & Capital sits within the Trading Business, Reporting directly to the Co-Head of Markets Trading. The Team works with Markets Leadership both centrally and across key business leaders to manage both the Risk Profile and the Financial Resources (RWA & LBS) of Markets.

This role is within the Risk side of the team, you will be responsible for delving into the Risk profile of Markets on both a portfolio and asset class level in order to challenge and make recommendations to Markets Leadership. While Market Risk is the driving Risk Discipline given the nature of the business, this role offers a holistic view across risk stripes and also incorporating Research and Strategy.

What will you be doing?
  • Analysing portfolio and specific risks across the Markets Business on a regular and ad-hoc basis to support the Trading Management in making effective business risk decisions
  • Ensuring effective processes across risk stripes from 2 nd line partners including: Market Risk, Credit Risk, Counterparty and Liquidity Risk.
  • Representing a Markets Risk perspective in projects with a broad range of subjects: technology and new product development, responses to Regulatory requests, methodological changes or Finance items
  • Providing a Risk perspective to the Capital side of the team to better help the business manage Financial Resources, including RWAs and Leveraged Balance Sheet
  • Helping maintain a core view of our house economics view and top trade ideas for the global management team to use as preparation for Client meetings
  • Liaising with control functions such as Market, Credit and Counterparty Risk ie limit asks
  • Ensuring that frameworks are fit for purpose and the business can function effectively
What we're looking for:
  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree in a numeric based subject, preferably financial discipline
  • Proven experience in Market Risk, preferably an understanding of other risk disciplines
  • Solid technical IT skills across Microsoft Excel / SQL / VBA
  • Broad experience with risk concepts across Markets, including Risk Analytics, Stress, Pricing, Risk modelling, Capital
