The Role: T o expand and drive the cover age of Battery Metals, one of the most exciting areas in energy transition. Markets for batteries that can store renewable energy are thriving, and demand for metals required for production is surging. Learn how metals play an important role in global decarbonization and be at the forefront of reporting critical market trends and price developments in Battery Metals, as well as related markets such as New Energy Vehicles. Th is role will focus on leading Battery Metals coverage and producing price assessments for the full suite of Battery Metal benchmarks - lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese - in China, Japan and South Korea, at a time of rapid growth . It also offer s opportunities to learn other key nonferrous metals markets, which may be non-battery related, but have significant impact in the overall metals industry.

The Impact: The key role is to gather pricing information and market intelligence, and then forming that information into price assessments and published market commentaries, news updates and in-depth analysis stories. You will also be in a thought leadership position as Platts develops benchmarks and new assessments.

The Career Opportunity: You can expand your knowledge of the Asian nonferrous metals industry by interacting on a daily basis with regional producers, consumers, traders and analysts, sharpening your verbal and written communication skills on the job.

The Team / The Business: You'll work with the global metals teams in Singapore, Japan, Australia, Shanghai, London, Washington, New York and Brazil.

Your Skills: Proven analytical ability and comfortable with handling numbers. Possess exceptional energy, tenacity and ambition to excel in a fast-paced newsroom. Strong written and verbal communication, analysis, and presentation skills

Our Hiring Manager says: This role will be responsible for producing S&P Global Platts assessments, as well as contributing to a number of other regional metals assessments in one of the world's leading metals pricing services.

Responsibilities:
  • Gathers commodity price information, product price assessments/indices and writes commentary
  • Assess the value of prices fully in line with Platts' rigorous and published methodologies
  • Reports news stories affecting structural market changes which affect price assessments
  • Maintain high quality, timely and real-time stream of news and pricing feed
  • Work closely with news desk, managers and others to identify news stories about issues affecting market prices
  • Develops, expands and maintains sources and contact relevant to the market area of coverage
  • Effectively manage and develop price reporting coverage in the region
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree or similar level university degree
  • Excellent English writing skills, preferably with prior training in pricing, trading and/or analytics
  • Experience or knowledge in battery metals /nonferrous metals will be an advantage
  • Must be proficient in spoken Mandarin; ability to read and write Mandarin a plus as the role will require close communication with the China market . Proficiency in Japanese will be an added advantage .
  • Good organizational planning skills; able to work collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment
  • Adept at managing multiple tasks and adhering to regular deadlines. Able to prioritize quickly and to readjust priorities throughout the day.
  • Self-driven, energetic and proactive
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, global, multi-cultural environment
  • Must be comfortable with using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
