What will you be doing?

• On behalf of a global financial services organization, negotiate legal agreements in the Prime Services division of Barclays Investment Bank, including prime brokerage agreements, futures and options customer account agreements, cleared derivatives addendums, repurchase agreements, securities lending agreements, and master netting agreements.
• Manage disputes with trading counterparties.
• Monitor regulatory developments relating to securities and derivatives, including rulemaking from US agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
• Implement changes with respect to contracts and/or operations based on changes in applicable law or regulation.
• Assist in development of complex product offerings from a legal perspective: specifically, develop legal documentation related to such offerings, analyze legal risk with respect to such offerings, and work with operations, Credit Risk, and other stakeholders within the firm in connection with such offerings.
• Advise Business personnel in Prime Services division of Barclays Investment Bank regarding day-to-day legal issues related to the operation of the division.
• Represent Barclays Investment Bank in various industry trade associations in connection with the development of industry trading documentation.

What we're looking for:

Requires a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree, or foreign equivalent, and five (5) years of experience as an Attorney or related position at a financial services institution. Five (5) years of experience must include: (1) Analyzing regulatory developments including rulemaking from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission; (2) Negotiating trading documentation with firm counterparties, such as ISDA master agreements; (3) Providing legal advice to business personnel on the day-to-day operations of business, based on a solid knowledge of finance and capital markets; (4) Advising clients on the development of new product offerings, including products traded on exchange and/or cleared at clearinghouses taking into account commercial pressures, relevant regulations, and legal risks; (5) Analyzing regulatory developments on rulemaking from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; (6) Advising clients on the Volcker Rule, in particular the rule's proprietary trading restrictions, as well as the related exceptions; (7) Advising clients on customer asset protection rules applicable to futures commission merchants;(8) Representing clients in matters involving regulatory advocacy, such as requests for no-action relief and/or working with industry peers through trade associations with respect regulatory reform. Must be admitted to the Bar in the State of New York.

You will be working at our New York, New York location at 745 Seventh Avenue, New York, NY 10019. This 37-story office tower is located in Times Square in the heart of Manhattan and features a cafeteria, fitness center and state-of-the-art LED signage on the façade of the building.
