 Position Valuations

LBC is seeking a Senior Associate / Vice President to lead the execution of various valuations responsibilities currently managed by the Portfolio Management team. The core focus of the role is to prepare, analyze and summarize portfolio investment valuation results. The portfolio valuations specialist will play a leading role in the firm’s valuation processes that requires coordinating with members of the portfolio management team, accounting & treasury team, independent valuation firms, accounting auditors and senior members of the firm’s valuation committee.  

Key Responsibilities

Overseeing quarterly valuation process for a growing portfolio of private loans and equity investments. Managing internal process and information flow between portfolio managers and third-party valuation firms. Leading the completion of valuation models in accordance with LBC’s valuation policies and procedures. Analyzing model output and comparing results to those generated by third-party valuation firms. Present valuation reports and analyses to internal valuation committee and external auditors. Maintaining internal files, records and memos related to valuation policies, processes, and procedures. Researching and evaluating valuation techniques and methodologies to adhere to valuation best practices. Coordinating onboarding for new portfolio investments and ensure proper data collection procedures are in place. Working closely with accounting & treasury team to provide portfolio investment information to aid in the completion of business forecasts, preparation of the annual audit and other planning deliverables. Assisting with day-to-day activities supporting the portfolio management team, including, but not limited to, deliverable tracking, valuation model reviews, presentation to senior leaders, responding to investor relations requests, coordinating with external service providers and completion of ad-hoc deliverables. This is designed to be a role with trajectory toward greater middle-office managerial responsibilities. 

General Requirements

Candidates for the Portfolio Valuations role should have 5-10 years of relevant work experience. Prior experience in valuing privately held loans and equity co-investments. Bachelor’s degree required; CFA, CPA, CIPM, ABV, CMA and/or formal credit training is a plus. Knowledge of ASC 820 and fixed income valuation approaches. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across business units. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires on-time execution of recurring deliverables. Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Confidence in presenting to large groups of senior executives (e.g. valuation committee). Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint; WSO, Bloomberg and Allvue (Black Mountain) considered a plus.
