This is an exciting and newly created position in a large UK commercial property organisation with a portfolio of over 5,000 properties across the UK. This role will be responsible for dealing with all day-to-day tax and treasury matters. This is an important role within the business and requires a committed candidate with solid property tax experience, knowledge of VAT and prior involvement in treasury related matters.
Key responsibilities will include:
Treasury matters
The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant or tax specialist (ACA / CTA) with a strong background in property taxes and ideally some experience or exposure to treasury issues. This would suit a candidate coming out of one of the specialist Real Estate / Property tax teams within the Big 4 / Top 10 and looking to use that technical experience to further their career in a commercial environment, where they will be able to put a real stamp on the business processes and operations from a tax perspective. Suffice to say, applicants will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, as well as a positive, pro-active attitude, and the confidence to face off to senior stakeholders.

Job Description

This is an exciting and newly created position in a large UK commercial property organisation with a portfolio of over 5,000 properties across the UK. This role will be responsible for dealing with all day-to-day tax and treasury matters. This is an important role within the business and requires a committed candidate with solid property tax experience, knowledge of VAT and prior involvement in treasury related matters.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Preparation of corporation tax returns for group companies and partnerships
- Preparation of tax figures to be included in monthly management accounts
- Preparation of quarterly instalment payment calculations
- Liaising with 3rd party consultant on capital allowances
- Provide oversight and challenge on quarterly VAT returns
- Provide tax input on property acquisitions, disposals and developments
- Review of weekly Investment Cases with specific attention to key tax matters
- Provide guidance on tax treatment of 'unusual transactions', e.g. one-off receipts and whether they should be capital or revenue
- Be point of contact for other tax topics - CIS, SAO, employment taxes, SDLT etc
Treasury matters
- Review of bank accounts on a daily basis and ensure that payments are funded as needed.
- Calculate and initiate monthly bank account cash sweeps in accordance with senior financing arrangements.
- Calculate, recommend and pay quarterly investor distributions and recharges, preparation of relevant data packs, organise relevant investor and JV approvals in line with company policy.
- Prepare/review quarterly lender reporting packs in accordance with the senior financing arrangements, agree packs with investors/management and deliver to lenders. Respond to any lender questions as needed.
- Review drawdown requests for capex loans under the senior financing arrangements, agree with investors, coordinate management approvals, initiate draw downs. Ensure that capex funds (investor or debt) are monitored and managed in accordance with the senior financing arrangements.
