This is an opportunity to work with ETF and Index Investments (EII) team at BlackRock; the world's most comprehensive family of exchange traded and index products. We are seeking a self-motivated individual to join the Global Research team within EII. The team supports active enhanced index strategies and provides data insights around indexing and is seeking Quantitative Researcher to join these development efforts. The successful candidate will provide insights and generate alpha through quantitative trading models and strategies and will collaborate with Technology, Portfolio Management and Trading teams to drive implementation and generate revenue.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Study indexing events and methodologies. Deliver data insights and prediction analytics around indexing. Develop alpha through quantitative and event-driven investment process.
  • Ability to gather, maintain and analyze economic and financial data in support of global ETF and Index Research. Experience with indexing data would be a plus.
  • Ability to conduct market structure, market behavior and portfolio implementation research in both equity and fixed income markets.
  • Build relationships with other teams supporting the investment data and research process. Closely partner with multiple teams across the organization in the execution of joint research work.


  • Formal training in quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering, or other quantitative discipline), and experience in utilizing those skills in an applied research environment. Master's or PhD degree is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 2 years of work experience in research, portfolio management, or technology area of a financial firm.
  • Strong understanding of the use of computer technology in the financial research and demonstrated statistical package programming skills (e.g., Python, SQL) and Linux literacy.
  • Understanding of financial markets, including drivers of return, risk control and portfolio construction techniques. Signal processing experience is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of data available in the investment management industry and experience in managing and accessing such data to support research efforts.
  • Ability to work efficiently and multi-task effectively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment. This will include end-to-end research project work under from data gathering to hypothesis testing and model implementation.
