The BIS team is considered an investment function as it engages in proxy voting at portfolio companies to advance the economic interests of clients globally. The BIS team operates in ten offices across three regions - the Americas (New York, Delaware, and San Francisco), EMEA (London, Amsterdam, and Frankfurt) and Asia-Pacific (Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Sydney).

BlackRock strives to take a common approach to all of our engagement and voting policies and practices globally. BIS is responsible for coordinating, communicating, and carrying out these policies across 85 markets and approximately 17,000 shareholder meetings at which the firm votes each year. The BIS team leads approximately 3,500 engagement meetings with portfolio companies annually.

Interest in the work of BIS has steadily increased over the past few years, as have expectations of clients and others in relation to transparency of BIS. To respond to the client demand around transparency, Stewardship is proactively enhancing the content included in client reports and mechanism by which it delivers reporting to clients.

About the position:

The role requires an individual who specializes in project management and the intersection of process and technology. It is a Vice President level role. A successful candidate possesses a strong attention to detail, a passion for creative problem solving, an appreciation for engineering skills / data infrastructure. T his role is crucial to the growth of our Stewardship function.

Key responsibilities at the Vice President level include:

• Support the next generation of client reporting by identifying ways to automate manual processes and deliver value to clients by connecting our stewardship activity across multiple data sets
• Develop strategic roadmaps, execution plans, and then drive and deliver results - building a bridge between the current and future state
• Develop project objectives with measurable goals, drive consensus and communicate plans and results to management
• Collaborating across the team to identify ways to improve business processes
• Understanding of BIS & Aladdin infrastructure to be able to scale reporting
• Ensure integrity of the BIS client reporting environment through creation of proper oversight and quality control of report generation

Desired qualifications include:

• 5+ years of financial industry experience
• Undergraduate degree in finance, computer science, economics, accounting
• The ability to build and maintain successful relationships with colleagues across the firm and with external parties
• The ability to prioritize, analyze, and resolve complex issues under time pressure
• A diligent, focused, and persistent work ethic to implement while leading multiple tasks and changing priorities
• An organized, self-reliant, and self-motivated approach to responsibilities
• The ability to communicate clearly and persuasively in writing and orally
