Your Team
Platform Operations Team holds the fort to the Infrastructure and the Platform services to support Avaloq's internal and external clients on a day-to-day basis. Being part of a dynamic team, the SMEs are involved in the inception, building and operating of the Infrastructure and Platform services, collaborating closely with Applications, Security Operations and Engineering teams.
As an individual contributor, he/she will be reporting to the Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) Team Lead. Also, he/she will work with the vendor team, network team, database specialist, backup and storage team, middleware team and deployment team.
This person is largely responsible for providing operational operating systems and services to the organization.
Your Mission
  • Installs / upgrades of Linux operating systems for in-house application
  • Installs application and database client software on servers, to interface with application server in a client/server setup
  • Configures and maintain clustering and failover for application / database servers to ensure scalability and availability
  • User administration on Linux systems including creates, modifies, and deletion of accounts, for user rights assignment and permission configurations, using LDAP in a multi-domain setup
  • Monitors and analyse system performance, detailing the system resource utilization versus user experiences and putting forth recommendations to improve users' experience, ensuring high level of availability and usability.
  • Diagnoses and remediates operating systems and application issues
  • Scripting in Linux, to automate mundane daily routine tasks or repeatable installation tasks, with status reports on status of automated tasks, alerts on failed tasks and automated remedial actions for failed tasks.
  • Plans and implement backup and recovery strategy for the systems, performing system recovery tests on a periodic basis.
  • Implements system and user configurations and system hardening to comply with security policy
  • Performs impact analysis for hardware / operating system updates, patches and configuration changes
  • Writes and maintain technical system operating documents, detailing the systems functions, installation, configurations, backup and recovery procedures

What you need
  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in system administrator capacity
  • Certification in Linux
  • Experience in both virtualized and physical environments
  • Experience in supporting disaster recovery of Linux servers
  • Good knowledge of shell script programming and automation tasks.
  • Proficient in end-to-end troubleshooting involving network/security devices, operating systems, applications, databases, front-end etc.
  • Openshift and/or Cloud Computing experience (both private or public cloud)
  • Familiar with cloud infrastructure designs and implementations and the process from development to operations
  • Good oral and written communication skills with ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and gains understanding
  • Process oriented with good documentation and diagrammatic skills
