The Role:

Be a key member of the research team, contributing to the development of the house view on Asia-Pacific real estate markets. You will help form strategic and tactical recommendations to M&G Real Estate (RE) managed funds on investments across Asia Pacific markets, taking into consideration both risks and returns The role will also involve generating new investment ideas and insights that help form new investment initiatives and products. You will also be expected to help raise M&G RE's profile as a thought-leader in the industry.

Key Responsibilities for this role:
  • Manage medium and long- term view formation of prospective performance for the APAC property markets. Assemble and interpret global, regional and local economic and property market information to form views about rental growth, pricing and prospective total returns for property markets in Asia Pacific; collaborate and hold discussions with other internal teams to develop consensus-driven house views
  • Analyse fund positioning and strategy by liaising with fund management teams. Formulate investment strategy recommendations and determine portfolio risk, and contribute to the setting of investment objectives. Work with global research team based in London to develop global strategy recommendations
  • Provide key market information and assess underwriting assumptions for specific proposed transactions to assist in the investment decision-making process
  • Produce written reports to present views held on the real estate markets for investors' quarterly/annual reports, Global Real Estate Outlook report and other market debriefs as required
  • Manage research projects analysing trends and themes relevant to the real estate markets to assess potential investment opportunities and risks so as to develop investment strategies for the funds and clients. Outputs include published internal and external papers that would help advance the knowledge of M&G RE and raise the Company's profile as a thought-leader
  • Provide support for business development and fund raising initiatives by developing presentation narratives and presenting to clients and their advisors, prepare responses to media queries when required on the property industry in general and on matters concerning property investment
  • Work closely with asset management and the fund management teams to provide strategic advice and analysis that would help lead to a buy, hold, fix, or sell decision for the fund management teams on portfolio assets.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • Degree in real estate, economics, finance, business or related fields of study is preferred
  • Relevant experience of at least 4 years in real estate research (sell side/buy-side/consulting)Excellent analytical skills
  • Good command of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint applications
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively within and across team
