As part of continued growth of the Legal & Enterprise Risk Management Group in APAC, we are seeking to recruit an experienced lawyer to join our Legal team in Hong Kong. This individual will play an important role providing legal and regulatory support for our client facing activities and the firm's ESG/sustainability related initiatives APAC. The role will report to the Head of Legal, APAC and will involve collaboration with colleagues based in APAC, EMEA and US and across functions

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities will include, among others:
- Providing legal support for Wellington Management's APAC client team, focusing on separate account/sub-advisory clients
- Providing general counsel and advice on regulatory, fiduciary, risk and other issues related to the onboarding of separate account/sub-advisory clients
- Providing legal support for Wellington Management's ESG/sustainability related initiatives and regulations
- Assisting with complex issues arising on Investment Management and Distribution related Agreements and client/fund investor onboarding and helping to establish controls and processes where required
- Providing general counsel and advice in relation to selling and marketing activities (including advice on regulated activities and licensing requirements)
- Advocating and engaging with regulators and industry bodies
- Providing legal advice and general counsel to project teams and business colleagues
The successful candidate is likely to have:
- 10+ years PQE, gained at an international law firm or in-house
- Broad-based asset management expertise, ideally with experience of advising on licensing and sales and marketing activities as well as ESG/sustainability regulations within APAC
- Good business judgement, and strong counselling skills
- A pragmatic and risk aware approach to practising law, with ability to prioritize
- The ability to represent the firm appropriately with external clients
- Proven written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively distil and communicate complex issues in a dynamic environment
- The character and ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
