The Role:
We're working hard to build a technology foundation fit for a modern digital, insight-led, responsive business. As part of this exciting transformation we are looking for an Software Engineer in Test to work with us as part of the QA team.

As a Test Engineer you are working across functional teams to deliver Quality Assurance across multiple features and projects within M&G. They advance the QA community through sharing of best practice, mentoring others and leading the scenario definition, writing scripts and executing testing both manually and via automation.

Key Work Level Accountabilities:
Experienced Colleague:
  • Accountable for providing a quality service or product to customers and stakeholders, using skills/experience built through significant practical experience or training
  • For team leaders, accountable for ensuring the team the role supports is delivering a quality service or product
  • Works within established frameworks and procedures, with the freedom to interpret them to solve a range of problems
  • Delivers outputs that are clearly defined, using discretion over how to achieve them
  • Makes suggestions for improvements to the work of the team, based on previous experience and knowledge of similar situations

Key Responsibilities for this role:
  • Identify test scenarios and acceptance criteria for stories and functional requirements
  • Write and execute Manual and Automated test scripts
  • Maintain automated test suites, whilst continually looking to improve and enhance for faster, more efficient and effective suites.
  • Analyse and Report on test results, providing guidance on where defects or issues may be present.
  • Use of metrics to evaluate and present findings to test and technical leads
  • Support, Mentor and coach team members
  • Articulate risks arising from the test results

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
  • A good working knowledge of different test tools and techniques and can train others. Able to advise others on testing techniques. Able to research, plan and train others within the team
  • At least 2 years' experience of working with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM)
  • Experience in testing enterprise level websites and mobile platforms
  • Test Automation experience is desired but not necessary
  • Experience of Jira/Zephyr is desired but not necessary
  • Able to think outside the box, ask the right questions and critically evaluate and communicate findings to a larger team.
  • Leads investigative work into problems and opportunities in existing processes, driving the collection of information and creation of recommendations for improvements.
  • Can absorb large amounts of conflicting information and use it to determine solutions
  • Able to design and execute a wide range of functional testing techniques and communicate test results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Able to make decisions on the environment for testing. Able to raise defects with the business and help prioritise them based on defect severity.
  • Experience working in fast paced agile environments
  • Experience working in cross functional teams
  • Experience contributing to, and achieving, continuous improvement goals
  • Understanding of complex systems and infrastructure - both physical and virtual
