This position is accountable for the delivery of a portfolio of software development projects and providing leadership and direction for strategic initiatives. The technical project manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and motivating agile project teams to deliver projects to completion. This person will work closely with business stakeholders, product managers , architects, and development leaders to execute high-impact technical projects cutting across multiple organizations and development groups. This position is also responsible for career development of direct reports , driving innovation in our processes and delivery methods, ensuring consistency across projects, and reducing our total cost of delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Leads multiple teams delivering mid to large projects including playing the Scrum Master in multiple workstreams.
  • Member of the Development Leadership team, accountable for strategic organizational planning, projects prioritization , capacity planning, and the development and communication of goals and objectives for the portfolio team .
  • Engages with key stakeholders in developing future roadmaps and providing status reports.
  • Provides leadership in the software development life cycle process including analysis, design, solution architect and integration.
  • Be the key interface with architects and development leads to estimate work, define project milestones and deliverables. Track project's progress , evaluate risks and communicate to management and project stakeholders .
  • Accountable for the accuracy of estimates, validati on of project design /approach , and f or the on-time, quality delivery of projects executed within the portfolio.
  • Provides oversight and guidance during technology integration efforts.
  • Accountable for assigned budget and responsible for minimizing expenditures and optimizing the utilization resources. Assists in the annual budgeting process by providing accurate forecast data.
  • Provide hands on leadership for large strategic initiatives
  • Responsible for facilitating/brokering communication between the sales and product strategy organizations and the Development team .
  • Responsible for the establishment and approval of new processes, or changes to existing processes, to ensure a consistent, well managed, cost effective and quality software delivery.
  • Coordinates and facilitates activities and commitments with other departments and/or functions.
  • Exercises the usual authority of a manager concerning hiring, performance improvement plans and reviews, promotions, salary recommendations and terminations.
  • Responsible for the development and growth of direct reports and fostering an environment of learning and collaboration.
  • Ensures staff is cross trained to ensure future account support and transfer of knowledge.
  • Manages cross-functional organizational relationships, as well as internal and external Customer of the Development Factory.
  • Responsible for the creation, monitoring, and improvement of all ISO processes that fall within the domain of the COE.
  • Required to be on-call as needed for emergency situations.
  • Interacts with all levels of the sales organization and business owners.
  • Works closely with all line managers, including the Application Architects, Developers, Operations team, Application Support Manager, etc.


Qualifications

  • Bachelors' degree in B usiness administration, C omputer science or M anagement information systems with at least five to seven years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience (systems consulting experience desired)
  • At least 10 years of experience in large scale system implementation efforts following a standard software development lifecycle approach
  • At least 3-4 years of experience running development initiatives in an agile lifecycle playing Scrum Master
  • Has led 4 - 5 full lifecycle system development implementations
  • Strong knowledge of multiple industry software development methodologies, including Agile , RUP and Waterfall at a minimum
  • Very strong oral and written communications skills
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Excellent organization and management skills
