The Manager, Research Analyst role is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about investments and data to be part of the Ameriprise Investment Research Group.
This role is responsible for supporting due diligence reviews of various investment sponsors and products available on Ameriprise's platform, including Mutual Funds, Closed End Funds, Exchange Traded Funds, Unit Investment Trusts and Separately Managed Accounts.
You will also play a critical role in building out the team's data infrastructure and developing new reports that will help support the Manager Research quantitative team's initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Support initial and ongoing due diligence reviews of asset management companies (including product level reviews). This includes: on-site visits, questionnaire management, direct interviews with firms' senior management and investment teams to gain insight and build conviction in the strength and consistency of their investment philosophy, process and the people managing the strategies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry practices and developments. Escalate issues and maintain records as required or appropriate.
  • Lead across the organization to share information and resolve issues related to due diligence decisions. Actively manage relationships with internal partners which includes regular communication on product guidelines, product performance, due diligence and operational issues. Act as a subject matter expert on cross-organizational projects including risk management, performance measures, complex instruments.
  • Generate reports for internal use as well as client- and advisor-facing publications.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, preferably in Finance, Computer Science, Statistics or related field
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in the Financial Services industry
  • Demonstrate understanding of and passion for financial markets, macro-economic fundamentals, and investment analysis
  • Conduct research and provide written commentary
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel
  • Strategic and creative thinking, excellent communication skills, and the ability to quickly adapt to new and changing regulatory and financial industry environments
  • Active Series 7 or ability to obtain within 120 days


Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of Mutual Funds, ETFs, Closed End Funds, and UIT structures
  • Interest in pursuing the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Designation
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to take initiative, identify opportunities and implement change
