The MVP Group of Ziegler Capital Management employs a bottom-up, fundamental approach to investing
that seeks to identify better businesses as measured by their cash flow return on investment
(CFROI), trade at a discount to their intrinsic value, and possess fundamental drivers that could
narrow the valuation gap over time. Companies that exhibit all three of these attributes generally
possess the most compelling risk/reward profile.
The MVP Group manages $1B in small capitalization strategies serving institutional and retail
clients. We are looking for a Junior Equity Research Analyst to focus on the Financials and Real Estate sectors. This position would be based in St. Louis, MO.
In this role, the Junior Equity Analyst will be responsible for the following essential job
functions:
- Perform initial reviews on potential investment opportunities, outlining risks and opportunities
- Provide comprehensive income statement, balance sheet and cash flow analysis via CFROI approach to measure a company’s operations and financial management
- Generate the estimated fair value of a company utilizing CFROI framework with support from traditional measures of valuation
- Perform ongoing due diligence by meeting with current and prospective company management teams
- Expected to understand the business fundamentals of 20-30 companies intimately while having a general knowledge of 200 or more companies
- Conduct in-depth, fundamental analysis using financial, industry and other supplemental data
- Identify, understand, and articulate the key fundamental drivers of a company’s stock performance
- Lead in the development and communication (verbally and written) of a succinct long term investment thesis which minimizes portfolio turnover
- Analyze industries and companies to contribute to the development of new idea generation
- Assess market sentiment and expectations that are discounted in a stock price/valuation
- Develop strong relationships with industry contacts, sources and peers
- Have or gain proficiency in the use of Factset, HOLT, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word as tools for research and/or reporting purposes
- Programming skills in languages such Visual Basic, r, C++, Javascript, Python, etc. is a plus
- Gain the confidence of the portfolio management team by sharing objective perspectives and assessments on new and existing investments, position sizing, and execution timing
- Demonstrate the ability to work well in a collaborative culture and maintain a positive attitude
