Zurich North America is currently hiring an Alternative Investments Risk Analyst (Associate Director), within Zurich Alternative Asset Management (ZAAM). This person will work out of our New York City office and report to the Chief Risk Officer for Zurich Alternative Asset Management. This person will work on quantitative analysis of alternative assets including risk due diligence on hedge funds.
ZAAM manages alternative assets on a discretionary basis pursuant to investment mandates on behalf of the various subsidiaries of Zurich Insurance Group, AG. ZAAM seeks to achieve superior risk-adjusted returns relative to liabilities through its investments in hedge funds, private equity and commercial real estate. The ZAAM Risk Team is responsible for risk oversight as well as portfolio analytics for these assets.
The Risk Analyst generates insights within alternative asset management by applying rigorous mathematical techniques, while developing methodology. The ideal candidate is a highly-motivated and detail-oriented team player. He/She articulates clear and actionable conclusions to address investment problems.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the investment management, risk management, data management areas OR
- Master's Degree and 4 or more years of experience in the investment management, risk management, data management areas
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters in Finance, Economics or Quantitative discipline
- Experience as quantitative analyst in a financial firm with responsibilities involving: (a) portfolio construction and risk management, (b) risk due diligence for alternative investments, or (c) financial engineering and structured products
- Knowledge of the insurance industry and ALM practices
- Familiarity with quantitative techniques such as simulation and regression
- Experience with coding (VBA, SQL or R)
- Familiarity with financial markets
- Competence in building statistical spreadsheet models
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- CFA or CAIA certification
