Overview of Position
The Senior Equity Investment Analyst position requires visionary insight and a high degree of self-motivation. This person possesses leadership characteristics along with the self-confidence and ability to collaborate with others. The right individual is truly passionate about stock investing, believes in active management and is energized at the prospect of identifying companies that will outperform. This position will have generalist sector responsibilities supporting all investment strategies across market capitalization ranges.
An integral part of Argent’s Investment Team, the Senior Investment Analyst researches prospective investment ideas for consideration across Argent’s investment strategies. Based primarily on fundamental research techniques and applying Argent’s selective investment process, the Analyst provides recommendations and analysis to the firm’s Portfolio Managers. The ability to thoroughly research and decisively present a well-reasoned case, either pro or con, for a particular stock is critical to success.

Independently perform primary research on companies and industries using a variety of analytical tools, including but not limited to analyzing financial statements, studying market and economic data, and participating in earnings calls or meetings with company management
Upon gaining a deep understanding of a prospective or existing investment, develop and present ideas and rationale that will convince Portfolio Managers to act on the Analyst’s recommendations to buy or sell specific stocks that, in the Analyst’s considered judgment, will positively impact portfolio performance
Provide constant feedback to the Portfolio Manager once a recommendation has been implemented, so that the Portfolio Manager has adequate information to make informed decisions on a portfolio position
Work collaboratively to continually improve and refine Argent’s investment philosophy and processes
Assist in marketing efforts by participating in client meetings as a subject matter expert when needed

Experience, Education and Professional Designations
Minimum of 5 years’ experience dedicated to small cap stock research
In addition, experience researching mid-cap and/or large capitalization stocks a plus
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or a related field
Holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation
Skills
Proficiency in investment-related software, i.e., Bloomberg and FactSet
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel (Macros and VBA proficiency desired)
