  • Work with a growing Property Investments Team

AustralianSuper is a leading and fast-growing global investor with operations in Australia, Asia, the United Kingdom and United States. We are the largest superannuation (pension) fund in Australia, and one of the 25 largest pension funds globally, currently with £160bn in AUM. We are a profit-to-member fund with a "Members first" ethos and culture.

Your new team:

It is due to this significant growth and expanding portfolio that we have created a new seat in London within our Property Investments Department, part of our Mid-Risk Investments Group.

Working with our Investment Director, who has worked in the development space for over 20 years now, you'll also be joining and be supported by the team of 7, with all different real estate backgrounds.

Due to the global strategy of the Fund, you will have a particular focus with the United Kingdom and Continental Europe, but also areas such as North America, Australia & New Zealand.

The international offices are expanding across all teams, with currently over 50 people already in London. These teams include; Investments (Capital Markets, FICC, Infrastructure, Private Credit, & Property), Legal & Tax, People & Culture, Finance & Operations, and Technology & Risk.

We have created a great environment and culture to work in, that can be seen daily, especially as we adapt to a hybrid model of working.

Our office is located in Kings Cross, one of the Fund's core assets, which is one of our two sizeable London development investments that you will have exposure to in the portfolio.

Your new role:

The role has different elements to it, such as; development management, transaction execution, and portfolio research &reporting. You will be supporting the team in most areas, delivering best outcomes, but with a focus of overseeing the interest of the Fund through the development phase

Key duties include:
  • Lead the successful delivery of development opportunities post-acquisition
  • Identify and analyse and/or assist on relevant opportunities that complement the existing portfolio, across the UK and European portfolio, including value, pricing elements etc.
  • Provide oversight on approvals for development activity, appropriate levels of Governance, assessment of non-financial metrics, and other work streams.
  • Report internally on all elements of the development cycle, from site assemble to delivery strategy, providing high level reports and insights to key stakeholders and committees
  • Work closely with internal teams, such as Legal, Tax, Finance, and other investment teams internationally.
  • Support key management, commercial and technical negotiations for transactions
  • Leading external teams involved in the development, working closely with investment partners and third parties.
  • Work closely with internal teams, such as Legal, Tax, Finance
  • Work with the team across areas of ESG, market trends, and occupational requirements

You'll need:
  • Significant experience working in a property development and/or asset management firm
  • Exposure working on substantially large transactions and projects
  • Passion for property development, keeping up to date on recent transactions, market trends and best in class projects
  • Ability to work in a small team, whilst capable of autonomous working
  • Relevant degree in Finance/Property, or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and commercial skills, with an eye for detail and deadlines
  • Experience in Development Management Agreements and their administration
  • Understanding of ESG factors within the real estate space.
  • European language would be a bonus, but not essential

What you will get in return:

This role presents a unique opportunity in an expanding team, in a fast-growing for-purpose fund, building a market-leading international investments operations platform.

International travel and flexible work hours are both a requirement and opportunity for this role, as we communicate with other offices regularly.

We put members first in everything we do and are committed to the recruitment, development and support of a diverse workforce that share our values of Energy, Integrity, Generosity of Spirit and Excellent Outcomes. All roles can flex at AustralianSuper and we're happy to discuss what this can look like for you.
