Job Summary
Experienced Research Analyst to undertake financial research and report on existing and potential investment opportunities. The successful candidate will study how a company’s financial prospects are tied to the economics of their business and analyze the potential for upside and downside variability of investment returns. You will participate in our portfolio-management strategy by providing necessary data and analysis to the firm’s investment committee.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Analyst can expect to focus on the following areas:
• Evaluating macroeconomic data
• Researching and forecasting product cycles, competition, market share, and profitability for various industries and companies
• Analyzing corporate financial statements
• Utilizing press releases, earnings calls, company presentations, financial filings, and company interviews to evaluate corporate strategy and investment opportunities
• Modeling financial statement proformas and constructing valuation models and peer analysis
• Writing research reports to assist in making informed recommendations
Qualifications
The Analyst position typically requires the following qualifications:
• Proven work experience in financial analysis, with a preference for investment research and analysis (2-3 years minimum, 5+ years preferred)
• Solid understanding of financial modeling, statistics, and economics
• Strong use of Bloomberg, Excel, and other financial analysis software
• Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
• Familiarity with and experience in the use of risk models and portfolio management techniques
• Experience working in a team environment where they have developed and honed problem solving and communication skills
• Strong, relevant academic credentials (BA/MS) in quantitative analysis (economics, accounting, finance, math, engineering, etc.) or qualitative analysis (journalism, psychology, or related field)
• Progress toward the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation a must, at a minimum attempting Level II or III
• Interest and/or experience in a particular industry (technology, energy, utilities, etc.) also a plus
